This game really is great. I remember renting this game back in the day all the time, and this really is just like I remember. Just as good as it was 10 years ago.
It's also just as frustrating as it was 10 years ago. Once you get to the later levels, you will get quite angry at the cute characters. Especially the mouse, I hate that stupid mouse. If I don't get first, the mouse is ALWAYS ahead of me. The worst part is, it's usually just one above me, and I can never hit it with my rockets.
Aside from that I quite like this game. The controls take some getting used to, because they are really drifty, and you go in the other direction a good amount before going in the direction you pushed the analog stick in unlike Mario Kart 64. Once you get used to the controls though, the game is very fun. You explore an island like a platformer but the levels are racing, not jumping. There are three different vehicles to drive in: cars, hovercrafts, and planes. The control description earlier describes the car, but the hovercraft is even more slippery. The plane is pretty good, but can also be hard to get used to with how long it takes to make a turn. So basically, the game is good once you learn how to control it. The graphics are pretty good model-wise, but what I really love is how colorful it is. This can be said about a lot of N64 games, but going back to play it is so refreshing from all this stupid "hardcore" brown and gray nonsense. I prefer games that put a smile on my face rather than another ruined gray city, and gritty mature subject matter. I'm not a big fan of the sound, but the music is most certainly fitting to the levels.
In conclusion, it takes a while to learn how to effectively play this game, but it is ultimately satisfying and fun.

Diddy Kong Racing is a great racing for the Nintendo 64 besides Mario Kart 64.

It's not a legendary N64 game, but it's a pretty darn hootin' good one even if it's tedious, and a carbon copier.

100% speed run of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest by "Ounaya". I'll know that you're an idiot if you comment on how it's not English.Posted Mar 25, 2007
