c mon guys at least he gave the intview in english but if you lost a little bit the track of his words  you start to hear the review in french.

So he´s the mastermind behind Deus Ex? I though the developer team was  Eidos whos now Square Enix.

Nevermind I consider Dishonored among the 1 priority the best game someone can expect from the rest of the year

@Mizarzeug The dev team was Ion Storm, who have since dissolved. BUT U MUST PLAY DEUS EX. IF YOU HAVE, PLAY IT AGAIN NOW.

As a French, this guy is really easy to understand, but I think he's a robot, never breathin'!

I hope this game will find the spirit of the original Deus Ex, that's the best game ever made for me.

@zedrummer What are you talking about, he stops and breaths a lot, granted he talks fast, but still, it's noticeable. :p

@buccomatic People with that kind of mind set are ridiculous!  It's 12 hours to play through one time with one style, it's a game that looks to be radically different depending on how you choose to play, and the levels likely have that Deus Ex kind of intricacy so you'll be finding new paths and secrets during secondary or tertiary runs.  I'd take that over the monotonous "100+" hours of a game like Skyrim or the repetitious gameplay you see in so many other titles!

I just love to see dedicated gamers.  Be they french or otherwise.  Give me a great game and you can speak gibberish for all I care.  Viva la France!!!  Gaming before all else, S'il te plait.

Come on guys, i'm danish and i have no problem understanding him, how can you Americans and Englishmen have such a hard time understanding your own language just because it's pronounced a bit differently? Kinda silly :)

This interview should be in french, with english subtitles. It would be better.

FFS!  Even French people are sat watching this saying, 'Pardon?'  (For those of us who don't speak French, I google translated that, it means 'Pardon')  You're welcome.

someone really need to tell him to slow down!! between his french accent, the fact that he doesn't open his mouth and that he speaks all rev-up... damn!! someone put a pencil in his mouth!!

No one has ever told him that it's difficult to understand him? It's great to have the executive producer come and talk about the game, but if it's so difficult to understand him, they've achieved nothing.

Is there any way to get a transcript of this, it's a bit hard to follow at times.

@TheBlackSpyYeah a transcript would be good, or add subtitles to the video. His strong accent makes it really hard to understand what he is saying.

I was looking forward to this game when I heard about it back around E3 time a few months ago but now after I've seen some of the gameplay vids on this vid itself I gotta say I'm not that interested in it anymore.  I'm not sure what I don't like about it but the whole teleportation thing they were showing in this vid just doesn't really do it for me not to mention hiding the body part as well.  Something about the physics of the game just instantly just gave me that I've been there done it don't care to do it again feeling...

naryanrobinson
naryanrobinson

I'm familiar with the French accent, but at times I could have sworn he went back to his own language.

I hope they don't stick too closely to Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

While it was an awesome game, there were things I definitely think detracted from the experience, one in particular being the XP distribution depending on playstyle and lack or XP for anything other than hacking.  Really meant you didn't have as much choice as you thought.  If you got anything other than headshots, you would lose *vast* amounts of XP for playing lethally, *and* it was too easy to play that way.

I'll not list all the flaws again here as it's not really relevant, but I wrote them all out on the Deus Ex: Human Revolution review and they're still there.

@naryanrobinson When he says spirit, I think he means the series as a whole. There really aren't all that many games that play to the style of Deus Ex, with the numerous choices in play style. This game looks to replicate that spirit by giving you a vast number of choices to make, whether it's powers to use or style of gameplay. If this really does follow the vein of Deus Ex, it's going to be a great game.

naryanrobinson
naryanrobinson like.author.displayName 1 Like

 @Pierce_Sparrow Yeah you're probably right.

However I would say that Deus Ex: Human Revolution was trying to keep the spirit of Deus Ex as well but lost a *large* amount of it due to the over RPG-ification of the game.

You didn't really feel free because you always felt like the game was trying to make you do all this extra stuff to get your XP.

The spirit change between the original and HR was vast I think.

Pierce_Sparrow
Pierce_Sparrow

@naryanrobinson Possibly, but XP was also never a huge deal for me in HR. I played the game multiple times, multiple ways, and each way I played I never really felt like I was pushed in any one direction (with the exception of the boss fights). The original Deus Ex is my absolute favorite game of all time, and I really felt like HR lived up to the game, even with a lot of the changes.

Psycold
Psycold

@naryanrobinson  @Pierce_Sparrow I get where both of you are coming from, I liked DE:HR but it still didn't quite live up to the original. The amount of freedom and how well they tied the story together regardless of the path you took has never been done better than in the original Deus Ex imo, and the freedom of choice was TRULY that. Dishonored looks to capture the feeling of being able to tackle the world any way you want, I just hope it delivers.
