I don't have enough patience for this. There are a few missable things that means you will have to do a whole new playthrough, redoing everything because the developers just happened to do something stupid with one of the sidequests and so on.

Now, when I do manage to get all of those done, another sidequest decides to glitch out on me, meaning I would have to replay the whole game again (this after screwing up an earlier sidequest but discovering it still counts).

My tip to anyone who is thinking about getting this game, and who likes to complete everything, don't get it. The autosave system after absolutely everything that happens is the most sadistic, playerhating system I have ever happened upon, so many things you need to work hard for to get is rendered useless by no new game plus and that you can get almost none of them before the game is over.

I might be ranting a little because of the hate the game has given me, but this game really isn't worth the money IMO. At least not full price

I whole-heartedly agree with you. And, so do most of the people who post on Gamefaq and Gamespot.

A huge amount of money and a huge amount of nice people went into making Epic Mickey 2. But, it has game-ending, inadvertent glitches. And, its development was controlled by mean-spirited designers.

In an interview, Warren Spector lied that "it is difficult but possible to get all the pins in one playthrough". We know that is not true, because you cannot even race in Autotopia until after the ending and credits. We could safely bet that he never even played the game or watched it get played.

While researching a problem I was having with "Heads Up", I found a site called "trueachievers.com" A month after Epic Mickey 2 came out, 934 competitive achievers owned the game and signed up to compete and tracked. Only 11 had finished the game -- after 1 month of competing for prizes and bragging rights.

People were quoting the Prima Guide to answer questions -- but the tracker also showed that they had not completed the quest or challenge.

I repeat, you are absolutely right in your evaluation!

Actually, it's possible to do everything in one playthrough. The only *truly* missable thing is one of the film strips - from the projector in the Floatyard behind the door guarded by the eye. It's also possible to miss certain Hidden Hero locations, but you do not need to take pictures of all of them.

If you do something that causes a certain quest to no longer be completable, the quest counts as being "finished" and you are still eligible for the Perfectionist challenge. It happened to me when I accidentally Thinned Scurvy Pat. I thought I had ruined my chances at completing the challenge, but sure enough when I completed every other quest I got it! At least in this one instance the game is more forgiving than it leads you to believe.

I've been working on a guide for this game, which should be up once the GameFAQs staff gets back from their holiday break. It details how to complete every Challenge and Quest, etc. I hope it'll be helpful to everyone having trouble with this game, because there are quite a bit of tricky bits. I haven't seen the Prima Guide (and it's probably for the best, because their guides are always full of errors), but I made detailed notes of everything as I played through the game. I have about half of the outcomes for when the game gives you choices down. I'll have to play through the game at least once more to get the other outcomes to complete the guide. I'm in no rush to do that, however. The auto-saving wouldn't be so bad if you could have more than once save file. It just doesn't make any sense.

In the mean time, if you have any questions on anything in the game, or want to know how I did something, feel free to ask. I've only played through the game once, but I was able to collect everything (pins/costumes/film reels), complete all the quests (save for Horace's), and complete 45/46 challenges (I didn't shutter the train stations, but from what I've read this is simple enough).

I'm trying to get the perfectionist trophy. I fixed three of the train stations, but when I went to Bog Easy to fix it, it was already destroyed and all the scrap metal was spread out for me to collect. Is there away to un-shutter it? Can I still get perfectionist if I haven't finished the train station quest? It pisses me off. The only reason why I didn't fix it earlier was because it couldn't be done until the second visit. I just didn't visit a second time until after I had finished the game..... Of course, it's also the one train station that they don't tell you how to fix. I wasted a bunch of time trying to lure the guy with the tv because I read it in a guide. I found out after wasting 15 minutes that it wasn't working because the station had been shuttered. There is so much freaking crap in this game that they just don't explain at all. It's ridiculous. Isn't it a kid's game? If it isn't possible to get perfectionist and shutter all four train stations in the same playthrough, and I'm currently screwed in this situation, that means I will have to play through the game two more times to get this platinum. Freaking ridiculous.

There are a couple times that you may get scrap metal, and still have a chance.

    Give it another try.

Make the TV sketch your active sketch.,
Walk to the wooden platform that is just left of the Bog Easy Train Station.
If you get close enough, Oswald will send a stream of electricity to the power box that is on top of the back of the wooden platform.
Drop a TV on the platform, and Gus will say the Station has power.

It may take a couple tries.

Then, go to the station master who is standing on the dock.
Talk to him, and drop a TV part way between him and the Train Station.
He will walk toward the TV and watch.

When that sketch runs out, talk to him.

Drop another TV sketch nearer to the train station.
The station master will go a little closer to the station.

    Repeat.

    It may work.

Did you check your challenges, and see if it states that you have shuttered the station?
It may say: 1/4, meaning you shuttered 1 of the 4 stations.
Which would mean that it is too late.

Two quests are still impossible to do if you screw up, and that is the selling quest and the celestial item quest. Selling I probably don't have to delve further into why it could be screwed up, but the celestial items screwup is completely the devs being sadistic. Missing one of them, which you can only find during a boss fight (yes, I said only, as in it doesn't fricking exist if you try to find it afterwards) and that quest is unfinishable. Might go back to this file, at least to get all costumes and try to match the heads (which shouldn't be so hard, have a few things in mind that might screw it up). I liked the first game, and I do play for hours captivated when I do play this game. Just the sidequests...

    I totally agree with “TrulySilentLie”
Proof that what “KingDarian” says about, “Actually, it's possible to do everything in one playthrough” is not true, is that playing the “EPILOGUE” takes so much time.
KingDarian writes: “W2.5 Epilogue: After defeating The Mad Doctor, there are still a few things to do in Wasteland. Wrap up any quests you have yet to finish, and find a few new tasks to complete.” Then, he has pages of things to do that can not be done during the first playthrough.

Actually, the pitfall that I originally started to write about is that Hidden Heroes are another problem:

There are 3 episodes in which to take the photographs, plus, the “wildcard” area of Mean Street and Undergrounds that can be used for any episode.

Episode 1, from OsTown to the first Boss has enough heroes to fill your quota.
Take them back to Seth who is under/behind the Mean Street South Train Station.

Episode 2, from Bog Easy to the second Boss has enough heroes to fill your quota.
Take them back to Seth who is under/behind the Mean Street South Train Station.

Episode 3, from Ventureland to the last Boss DOES NOT have enough heroes to fill your quota. If you used too many of the Hidden Heroes on Mean Street and the Underground, you cannot complete your quest.

I was doing Hidden Oswalds, and knew that there are only 2 Hidden Oswalds in Episode 3, and I needed 7. So, when I was doing the other episodes, I did not use the two train station ones in OsTown, and the one train station one in Bog Easy. Just as I suspected, those Hidden Oswalds could not be used for my Episode 3 quota.
Luckily, I had planned ahead, and saved all the Heroes on Mean Street and Undergrounds.

BUT, I bought a Prima Guide two weeks after I bought the game, and, if anyone follows the guide and clicks on those Hidden Heroes before the end of the game, they do not get the Quest – ever !!!

Same goes for other Walkthroughs and Guides that advise you to take the easy pictures on Mean Street, and use items like "Part 79-B" to fix a transportation tube, before you turn in 20 items to the museum for a "One Toon's Trash" credit. (After you get credit for the quest, you can buy back the stuff at a 50% mark-up. ) (Stuff from the sky does not count on that quest, but is a separate quest.)
