    It is too difficult for a 5-year-old -- or even a 10-year-old
I am an expert, genius gamer, and there are feats that cannot be accomplished. (I have finished the game several times, but some things cannot be done!!!)
    The game has technical glitches.

The game doesn't make sense, and there are intentional, mean-spirited obstacles.
The game was cut in half, so you buy half a game as EM2 and then have to pay again for EM3 to complete the game and get Mickey back home and Main Street back together, and water in the OsTown fountain, etc.

Maybe they ran out of time before the holidays, and put out an unfinished game. Or, maybe halfway through they decided they could divide the game -- leaving many strings hanging, and many NPC's statements not belonging in the game.

For the last five years I have had annual passes to Disneyland, and have done the Hidden Mickeys, but not once did I remove paint from the buildings or jackhammer the street to see if there was a Mickey underneath. Maybe only one out of 20 thinnable spots have something. We just run around like a chicken with its head cut off -- just to make them laugh at what they can do to us.

I bought it, even though I had watched a 30-minute demonstration on the Nintendo Channel, shown to about 8 middle-age men.
The expert whose game was videotaped and edited had played it before, and he still had trouble double jumping or barely making the double jump. The men wanted to know what would happen if the player could not do a trick. The oblivious promoter showing the video just said, oh, everyone can do it, you just press A twice.
They were asking how the man knew to do those things -- like which paintings to paint and where to go. The oblivious demonstrator said you would figure it out -- but some of those things would never occur to the audience.

The reflection on the TV screen showed the audience sitting there with their arms crossed over their chest, and nobody smiled or enjoyed any of it.

In Epic Mickey 1, we could get excited at things we recognized. In EM2, it just feels drab and unhappy -- even the electric parade had no joy.

There is no way to complete all the challenges and quests, because some are mutually exclusive -- there are 2 ways out of the fort and the float area, and if you use one strategy, the other method is blocked forever -- which means you cannot get credit for going that way.

The non-playable characters are so unpleasant.
The ad says you can play either Mickey or Oswald, but you can only play Oswald if you get somebody else to play Mickey.

    Harsh words.... but true nonetheless.

    To add:

The AI Oswald is an idiot. When you need to let both Oswald and Mickey hit a switch together or need Oswald to hit a switch. Often, Oswald will do nothing. You basically need a 2nd controller all of the time in order to get through the game.

Oh and those promised musical numbers? They are mostly sung by the Mad Doctor of all people and are more annoying than fun.

Most of the environments are very generic environments with a Disney prop here and there,

katydiddd- How do you know this game was cut in half? I haven't found any article on the net saying that the game was cut because of any reason. I far as I've seen they made it this way. You have any articles or anything?

Aiming paint and camera control were horrendous in EM1. People posted that they hoped EM2 would be better. No Luck !!!

What do we know about why Epic Mickey 2 is only part of an unfinished game, and we are going to have to pay full price, again, for EM3 if we want to finish it?

Posts by others brought up many questions about whether Disney just ran out of time to get the full game out for the holidays, and truncated it without being able to clear up the loose ends, OR, if, at some point in the middle of making the game, Disney decided to put out a game in two parts, to make more money. There are too many anomalies to think that it was planned on being a trilogy before they were into the game and had characters and situations having us try to do things that cannot be done.

Customers ended up with half a game that the basics can be done in a couple hours, and Disney threw in tedious side quests to make people thin out hundreds of buildings and jackhammer roadways to search for Hidden Mickeys.

    1) Of course, the biggest proof that EM2 is an incomplete game is that Mickey is still in Wasteland, with forgotten toons, instead of being back in his house in Disneyland, where he started the game, greeting children and making cartoons. The game has no ending.

    2) The narrator says at the end that Oswald & Mickey do not know what lies ahead, but together they can conquer it all.

    3) After the credits, the Petes kidnapped a gremlin into Mickey’s Service Station Cartoon screen to Adventureland. I followed – to no avail.

    4) The OsTown Fountain does not have blue paint/water that should cover up the turnstile. We should be able to use the transportation tubes that are under the turnstile to transport up, or someplace.

    5) After the credits roll, when you say pause, it states to keep exploring Wasteland. Soon, it changes to “Epilogue: Work together to use the turnstile and open the way forward.”

    6) The place is still in turmoil, with all the characters worried.

    7) Gremlin Jamface says, “Strange, it looks all fixed, but still receives no power.” (This is after I fixed all 6 undergrounds.)

    8) Three Jamaican women talk on Mean Street about reuniting Main Street and fixing Dark Beauty castle.

I absolutely loved this game. I never found any glitches, & the painting controls were easy once I got used to them.

There are hard boss battles, but for me, they were the kind of hard that made me feel good once I beat them. Not annoying as hell to the point that I don't care anymore, such as Resident Evil 6.

I didn't think the Oswald A.I. was that bad. I've seen worse partner A.I. in Resident Evil 6, Operation Raccoon City, & the WWE games have mediocre general A.I.

While the story was short, I spent alot of the time doing side quests & exploring the environments. It took me a week to finish. It took me 3 days for each campaign in Resident Evil 6, & hated nearly every bit of it. Far too overlong, boring & lazy. While I will admit the story in Epic Mickey 2 was short, for me, after playing garbage like RE6, I wasn't too bothered.

I just went through the basic game, again, in less than 3 hours.
It took me 21 minutes to get enough money to buy sketches.
    What a waste.

Did the last person who posted like the boss battles?
The first boss is stupid -- you do not have to engage the dragon; you do not have to paint or thin him. You just go upstairs and thin out the three roof supports Or, you could get Oswald to zap the three power sources beside the roof supports, but Oswald is too busy fiddling with the ink spatters -- instead of just spinning them away when they come to head-butt you. Even if you paint or thin the dragon, you still have to go upstairs and thin the roof supports or zap the power boxes, so why deal with the dragon? The first boss battle takes less than 3 minutes.

The second boss, Prescott's Arena, doing the thinner method, takes me a long half hour. Because, when you beat the boss, they repeat it twice more. Why? Thin the face, spin a cannonball back at it, thin the face, spin a cannonball back at it, thin the face, spin a cannonball back at it -- cutscene.

The third boss is the same repetition. He appears with half the masks thinned, and you decide whether to thin or paint them. And, when you get it done, you go up the pistons and do the same thing again. Why?

Disney's goal is to just use up your time with nothing new or exciting.
The boss battle is short, so they have you do it over and over. WOW!!!

As for Resident Evil, my only one is the original on Game Cube, which plays on my Nintendo Wii and GameCube. Did you like any of them? Recommend any?

ZELDA games (where the player is male) have innovative bosses and gadgets that make me smile -- except for getting stuck trying to catch a bird or a fish. Zelda Skyward Sword is the most recent, but Zelda Twilight Princess has it so the player can turn into a wolf. Zelda Ocarina and others can be downloaded.

Thanks for writing and sharing your ideas.
    Know any other games?

So, basically Epic Mickey is great, but only as long as you've played and compare it to Resident Evil 6?

Just finished the game, leaving me with a big "That's it?"
The game is so short and it;'s very strange how long the first world is and how short the others are giving thought to the theory mentioned about a split game.

To further add: The 2D levels feel like just random 2D-levels pulled from a cancelled game with some Disney backgrounds added to it.

And the game is nog difficult per se, but rather frustrating and cheap. To give an example: there is a puzzle where you need to drag car parts on top of several vents to break them. However, there are lot of pools with thinner in them around the area. When Mickey lands in of those he loses a bit of life and hops in the air (think lava in Mario 64)

When you drag one of the car parts however, you have to take it down a cliff with you. A lot of times the car part bounces into the thinner, therefore erasing your hopes to get it. And no, you can't get new parts so you have to commit suicide and try again.

Really, if you like vintage Mickey Mouse cartoons, just get Mickey's Wild Adventure (a psx port of Mickey Mania) of PSN and enjoy that one. It isn't the best Mickey game but it sure is whole lot more fun than this overhyped piece of garbage.

Work your fingers to the bone, what do you get???
After 2 weeks with the game, I bought the Prima Guide, which doesn't solve enough issues.

I did an internet search for the challenge "Seth Heads Up Epic Mickey 2"
A site for hard core gamers came up -- trueachievers. The solution was quoted out of the guide -- along with statistics for awards the site gives out.

The stats for Epic Mickey 2 were:
923 tracked gamers have this game
    10 have completed the game
22 have unlocked the Heads Up Challenge
    "Achievement Not Yet Won"

The game has been out for a month, and even expert gamers cannot wade through the mean-spirited challenges and quests.

Look at Horace's quest -- first you get 6 pieces of a teddy bear, scattered all over the place. Then, there is a fork to choose between two paths. I only achieved Clarabelle, because I gave up with Clarabelle, and went the other fork of the challenge -- and ended up with Clarabelle. One person had his post removed, because he was so frustrated and showed it. You do everything, and still you cannot give the note to Horace. Why?

When you fight the first boss, you are very busy on the lower and upper level -- painting and stopping him from thinning. But, if you do not run out of the field of battle and jump to find a lunch box for the museum or observatory, it will not be there when you come back, and you can never complete the observatory challenge. But, when you do go to get it, the dragon you have been working hard to paint has been thinning the roof supports, so the ceiling falls and you have a thinner cutscene.

And, I am one who played EM1 and uses a lot of watch sketches!

The game is not for a 5-year-old, but very few games are. When I have a newbie over, I have him do "Where The Wild Things Are."

I guess they do these kind of things in order to get you to play through the game again and see the differences you'll get when you play differently. (even though they are extremely minor)

Your post makes no sense at all. None of that, not a single point, means the game is incomplete. It means they are planning a sequel.

When kingdom hearts ended with Riku and Mickey trapped on the other side of the door and no one went home, did you complain the game was incomplete?

Also, one of your previous posts said something ridiculous about not removing paint from the buildings in real life Disneyland while looking for hidden Mickeys, which is pretty much proof enough that no one should ever take anything you say seriously again.

KH Hearts actually felt like a complete game, with a lot more length and production quality than EM2.

Hey everyone, I am TC - after posting this message, I never looked back at this board... but my did end up getting this game for me and my son for xmas, and for what it is, it is fun, me and my son are enjoying playing through ( I understand there is no way to complete everything in this game) But we are near the end of the game, and th eonly thing that has been way to hard to co-op is "Autotopia".... For what it is, I like the game... As does my son... who is now 6, but loves his gaming.

    Glad to hear that!
You are an exceptional father to spend quality time with your son.
He will be so much better for it, in so many unexpected ways.

It doesn't matter what you do, the important thing is that it is you and him, together.
Thanks for writing, and keep up the good work.
