I don't know about the critic, but I enjoyed the story.

I exspect some good DMW.

Eventually, I'm gonna break down and get a PSP. Just for games like Dissidia and the PS1 goodies on PSN.

I've watched a few taiwanis tv shows all the way through with subtitles, and the way the characters in this and the last game talk is a lot like how they talk in those shows. A lot of abstract talk about feelings and who you are and why you are there and stuff like that. The reviewer isn't approaching the story from a japanese perspective really.

Makes me want to buy a PSP... Maybe I can afford one once the price goes down after the Vita's released.

enjoyed the first one, but is this just more of the same with new characters? im not sure if i should get it.

Been playing it for a week, give or take a day or two, and I think it's great. Definitely a must-have if you have a PSP. And if you think of the story as a "fan fiction", it's not THAT bad. Like bugside said, compare it to other fighting games like Tekken, it's gotta be better.

The story may not be great, but if you compare it to other fighting games, like Tekken or Dead or Alive for example, than this is pure Shakespeare.

i liked the story mode and he forgot that you can unlock more in your reports

@darkspectre87 Umm... He didn't mention this in the review, but it actually comes w/ BOTH games; beat this one, you unlock the WHOLE entire other game, along with improvements to it.

you actually dont need the first one to understand anything in this one. It even has the story mode of the the first dissidia

Do I need to play (buy) the first game, Dissidia: Final Fantasy in terms of story? Or I could skip it and just get this?

I still play the first one. It is the perfect "I'm waiting for the microwave to heat a hot pocket" game as well as if you want to play for the long haul. In fact, I'm in the process of beating the Shade impulse as well as the extra chapters with each character...again. I disagree on the story in the sense that the story is honestly not better or worse than Final Fantasy is. If you're a fan, having the individual FFs stripped down to "How does main hero and main villain in the FFs relate to each other". If you're not, I can see where you would roll your eyes at the story.

Kevin forgot to say that you unlock the original Dissidia Final Fantasy once you beat the game.

Can't wait for tomorrow. For now I have prologus. :D

Sucks that the PSP gets all these good games and not on the PS3 :( - i have seen time and time again awesome PSP games being released that should of been done for the PS3!

This looks great, but the in-battle dialogue sounds kinda repetitive. In those few seconds Laguna was there I was already sick of "There you go!"

i need ppl to ad hoc fight on dissidia... i've NEVER done ad hoc... ever. sucks. though i still love fighting the cpu.

I played prologus, and now i feel that this is going to be the same of the past year.... ok with 8 new characters... but I was expecting more from SE, If they couldn´t add new ways of gameplay, at least they could´ve added a bunch of new characters, x2 the past dissidia roster would be nice, but that didn't happend... Or at least add good and representative characters like vivi, seymour, zell, ashe, vincent, balthier, basch, cid raines or vayne solidor to name some... but that didn´t happend too (with some exceptions - lightning, tifa yuna and vaan are nice additions)... Instead of that they gave us prishe, gilgamesh and laguna...Come on!... I think I´ll wait for a price drop to buy this game, I lost all my expectatives after playing prologus...
