As one of the fans of the franchise, I was disappointing when I saw the new Dante, and was one of the people who wanted Capcom to bring the old Dante back. But looking at it, DmC didn't fail as I thought it would be.Capcom and Ninja Theory knew their crowd of DmC fans will be hardass on this one, so they kept the taste of the old with some new developments.
Most of the old school stuff are there, basic weapons, the red coat, and Dante's character. With some enhancements in the weapons it makes the fighting experience much better, plus the new angel and demon mode weapons you will have on your way.
The graphics are great, and also great artworks on the demons. The voice act was acceptable, and the tagging system is promising (needs a little more development though). I love Limbo city (where all the action happens for Dante), it's awesome for this genre to be in a city that every inch wants a piece of you! I mean a city controlled by the demon king full of enemies to kill, floor breaking beneath you, walls closing over you, devils voices all over the place, how awesome would be that?! it feels like if you're hallucinating or inside a dream.
Speaking about angel and demon modes, yes they made a wider range of weapons, but it took time to get used to using them properly. In real time action, your hands may fail you couple of times but you will live....I guess.Another thing I didn't like in the game is that it was too short, I finished the game in 8 hours! and I still hungry for more!!!
In short, as a game it's good, as a DmC it deserves 8 hours of your time because it's worth playing.

DmC has intelligent combat, an engrossing story, a hyper-stylish mood, vibrant visuals, and nearly flawless execution.

I suck at these games so "Human" should have been easier...
