Doom 3 back in 2004 was a revelation technically. Great visuals, sound, scary as hell & just bloody damn good. This BFG edition is purely for console owners. Barely any visual settings to adjust. I think it's resolution, AA & v-sync. The 2004 version had texture settings, bump maps, specular lighting or whatever it's called plus a few other settings to play with. So what the hell?
I have the original 2004 release & comparing them I'd say that lighting & character models look better in the BFG edition but it all looks so...shiny. I hear that chunks of the original have been removed. Because Doom 3 is so generically designed anyway I never really noticed. One thing I did notice was that the game seamed easier than before. Could be just me though.
It's obvious this reboot is just out for cash after Rage bombed so badly. I guess if you've never played D3 before you could be in for a treat but get the original. I still reckon it looks as good as this cash in. I'm a rare PC gamer as in I have a 360 so if that's all you have this could be a good option but the gameplay is so old & been there done that feel to it that it won't even be considered a good console shooter. Either way my advise is to avoid this BFG nonsense altogether. Buy cake instead.

This is not how you do upgrades or HD remakes of games. Throwing three games with no changes together doesn't work.

Been waiting for BFG edition since it announced, and all they did technically was turn up the brightness in all levels.
