- "Old-school"
Back in 2004, Doom 3 was one of those hallmark PC titles along with Half Life 2. Both sported great graphics and fun gameplay. Doom 3 follows in its predecessor's footsteps almost exactly.
GAMEPLAY: As previously stated, Doom 3 follows in the original Doom's footsteps. This however, pulls the game back as the game revolves around close combat, tunnel shooters. The game is scary but predictable - demons jump out of dark corners. Adding to this, the player isn't able to have a flashlight and weapon wielded at the same time.
SOUND: There is no music - only the creepy ambience noise that adds to the scare factor.
GRAPHICS: To be quite honest, Doom 3 doesn't showcase the engine's full capabilities. Doom 3's Dark, enclosed environments > Half Life 2's large and varied environments. The graphics are good however and the textures are sharp.
STORY: The story is rather simple; a space marine stuck on a demon infested space station. Nothing really special.
CONCLUSION: Is Doom 3 worth playing? No, unless you liked the previous Dooms or a Satanist.
Pros: Graphics, Creepy Ambiental Sound
Cons: Repetitive Gameplay, Cheap Scares, Story is Unimportant

Once you get past the graphics, it is a repetitive and bland FPS w/ linear gameplay. Shoot the same demon 1000 times.

Doom 3 differs a lot from many expectations, but portrays the new direction that id Software has for the franchise well.
