@southernmoney16 it's definitely just the definition of the trailer. Play the demo and you will see that the graphics are a huge step up from what they were in origins.

Mike Laidlaw talks about talent trees and how character gameplay has improved in this Dragon Age II interview.
i think this is the best way i have see the new role playing games final fantasy got nothing vs dragon age final fantasy i love this game toke the rpg to new game play i thought it was bad game but i been playing the first one and its to addicting game
Can't wait for this game! I just got finished playing the demo and it effing rocks! The mage tears sh*t up in it!
This game Is gonna be sick how r u people not picking about the graphics and haven't even played u people r so lame this will be the both bet it dragon age was one of the best game I ever played da2 will be 2 can't wait my probation is on the day before its releas hopefully im not in jail iwant to play this so bad
I don't really like the new layout. It looks good, but I look at Dragon Age as this dark, gloomy era of doom. Yet, your energy bar and health bar are extremely bright, and childish. Especially the skills.
to all the pc gamers out there "you will not know diffrence in graphics on pc comparing to consoles even if it hits you in the face" btw am a cg major, and a pc gamer first
I don't dislike consoles but personally prefer PC gaming as usually the graphics are better and you can also play MMO's. I've been a PC gamer since 1992 when I picked up my first 1st person perspective RPG game "Ultima Underworld". I am a die-hard Bioware fan. They have never let me down going way back to the Baldur's Gate trilogy until now. My only thoughts on DA2 is that I hope they keep the "Living world" aspect of it in place. DA:O is one of my favorite games because of not only the tactical combat, but also the fact that you could design your team, and give them specific weapons and armor that could boost their stats. And the MAIN thing that drew me in was not just the storyline, but also the fact that the companions in your party felt like living breathing human beings. They felt like they had their own lives and you were becoming a part of it. They talked to you often and would have meaningful conversations with you, got jealous over you, had their own specific agendas (Just like in Baldur's Gate) and also cracked jokes on each other that often I found hilarious. There was nothing like walking through a forest or a city and hearing Morrigan and Alistair spontaneously get into polite verbal fisticuffs. This is the main thing that I hope is still a part of DA2. The fact that your companions aren't just silent partners that on very rare occasions throw out some meaningless statement depending upon location. (i.e. Awakenings).
@Jannradio - ok, I guess. In my experience both sides are equally guilty...some PC gamers like to brag about how their PCs are better than consoles and take it too far, it's true, but console gamers are equally guilty of bad behavior toward their PC gamer counterparts. Thing is, I didn't see any PC gamers behaving badly in this comment thread, so some of the comments from some of the console gamers were totally uncalled-for. You might have had bad experiences with some PC gamers in the past, but that isn't a justification to be rude to others that are just minding their own business. If PC gamers are talking about the PC version of the game and it doesn't apply to you then why respond at all? Sometimes the PC folks are annoyed when developers don't utilize the potential of their hardware...it doesn't bother me that much, but I get it. Anyway, I'm both a PC and console gamer. The fact is that, yes, if you want to put the effort into it you can get significantly better graphics and sound using a PC, but it takes more time and effort to get there, and I totally understand why some people don't want to deal with it. I couldn't care less what people choose to game on. What's the point in sniping at each other?
@iol1 I was joking with the xbox 360 comment. You're kidding when you say that console gamers attack PC gamers right? It's the other way around, I just like to get on PC gamers nerves because they act all mighty on forum sites. Personally I couldn't care less which is more dominant, as MadKeloo said we're all gamers. I just think it's funny how everyone talks big about what they're gaming on like they made the damn thing themselves.
@Jannradio - Yeah, I already have an Xbox 360, "bro," and a PS2 and a Wii as well. If you already have a PC chances are you only need a video card to play good games, which will run you around $100 - $300 depending on how much power you want. After that the games are cheaper (much cheaper if you wait a few weeks after release), which quickly makes up for the price of the video card. I like to game on my PCs because I like the enhanced graphical and sound fidelity, I like to play some older games, and I like to play with mods (sooo much free content). For some games I like to use a mouse (also have a 360 adapter for my PCs to use a controller if I want to). It's not that expensive and the cheaper games make the price difference a wash. Why are the console folks always attacking the PC gamers? It makes no sense. None of us were bashing consoles or console gamers (hell, I am one), so how about backing off, eh?
I don't care about the changes in graphics and interface which are definitely not better than the original, i just want the game right now...!!!
Seriously guys I own a PC, so yea I'm a PC gamer, been for 11-12 years now, but I really don't understand this fighting between console gamers and PC gamers. We share the same hobby, the same interest, we are GAMERS, we should stick together not fight. There are plenty interesting games even RPGs on consoles that I would want to try, but I don't have the money right now to spend it on a console. I'm not against console games or gamers, I find this whole fight stupid. Gamers are gamers, no matter on which platform they play their games. But some people are frustrated or too narrow minded to realise this, so they don't have anything better to do then to pick on others, and start a fight.
@iol1 - Damn bro, 700$ to build a killer gaming rig..? Save yourself 400$ and get this. Lmao - here comes the down thumbs from the PC players that hate consoles for having more of a player base.
The game looks like fun, but Laidlaw sounds like a hamster on espresso - I only caught about half of what he said.
@southernmoney16 - Lolwut? PC gamers are obsessed with graphics? No, we just expect the PC graphics to be better than console graphics because the hardware can be better. That's one of the reasons we choose to game on the PC in the first place. If we didn't expect better graphics then we would just play on a console, get it? I have a 360...why would I bother dropping $200-$300 on a good video card for my computer if it wasn't going to be any different than my 360? Also, you can get/build a killer gaming rig for $700 or less, you don't need to spend a ton of money. In fact, if you're spending $2,000+ you're probably getting ripped off.
Let me tell ya something, DA II in terms of gameplay is exactly like the first one, with a few tweeks here and there. You can still pause the game and choose your tactics, customize the tactics for each class, so I really don't know what you're complaining about . You don't believe me ? At least check out their website, where they're showing you the combat system of DA II on the PC. Of course if you will play it on easy or normal you won't be using the tactical view much, you won't pause the game, but on hard or nightmare you will have to, otherwise you won't be able to play through the game. So yea the tactics are there and on higher difficulty levels are mandatory. The big difference is the graphics engine and the dialog wheel, the rest is just like the first game, only with much more fluid animations and improved reactions from you party members. I'm sure it will be at least as good and as enjoyable as the first one, but after I've seen the Witcher 2 footage this one seems much less complex and short compared to the Witcher 2. I mean to me the Witcher 2 will be the ultimate rpg or action-rpg game. It features a huge universe to explore, you'll have the freedom of choice, the combat will be much more dynamic, much more fluid and in realtime unlike the first witcher(but I enjoyed it anyway). Think that every single quest from the "unimportant" side quests to the main quests will have at least two completely different ways to complete it, so think about the consequences that will influence the storyline. This means hundreds upon hundreds of hours of gameplay. So it will be all about the decisions that you'll make, the paths you will take. I mean the differences between the first DA and the second DA isn't that big, but the differences between the first Witcher game and the second are huge. Too bad they could've done many more improvements on the second DA game, but if it's at least like the first one in terms of gameplay and storytelling I'll be pleased. At least they've kept the goodies from the first DA game, like the storytelling, the gameplay, the tactics etc... I'm not saying that DA II will be crap or dumbed down, but in comparison with The Witcher 2 it feels much more simple, not so deep or complex in terms of storyline, consequences, decisions, choices. Anyway The Witcher and DA are my favourite RPGs at this moment, so I'm eager to play the sequels.
Man u pc gamers r so lame graphics arent everything especially dragon age the graphics look strait to me and its more about the story and building your team up quit your crying pc gamers everybody doesnt have 3000 bucs to make your pc good enough to play these new games screw pc go play wow u lames
Wait the footage they were showing was from a console version right? I really hope it was because it looked far too action based compared to the first dragon age on PC. I just really hope they keep all the tactical goodness that was in the PC version of the first one, in the second one as well.
I really wish this presentation could have been made using the superior PC version... im so tired of all this console crap...
I am however very happy to see the mass effect style "dialog wheel"... I wonder if its still going to be top choices for good and bottom choices for bad character progression.. lol.
The graphics and interface look pretty shabby but im willing to bet this is only for the consoles... good thing im getting this game on PC.
@vinhnt1 It's a Bioware game, with the exception of Mass Effect; their graphics have never been the greatest. Bioware are master story tellers, most people don't play their games for their "omg cool graphics." We, well.. I play their games because of the amazing storyline involved in the game. All the way from the dungeons of Baldur's gate, through the tatooine desert of KOTOR and finally, the citadel of Mass Effect. I'd happily sacrifice amazing graphics, for great gameplay and an amazing story that I will remember.
omg the graphics look really worst than the DA:origins gameplay is important but also graphics, look at fall out 3 : new vegas ... it's 2k11 dude , can't play with a graphics like that even it''s a good game :| well i've already pre-order this so let's wait and see ... for now , just play crysis 2 and wait 4 bullet storm :)
at this point, the graphics looks pretty horrible and i dount they will change much in 1 month time. so what you see now, is what you will get in the final game.
The mc movements dosent look polished ...i hope they make the mc more fluid. But nevertheless looks great and cant wait to play it.
Dammit I really wish that the swords had sheaths, I don't like how your character has a magical magnet that holds their weapon on their back. If Oblivion can do it why can't so many new games, I'm looking at you to Uncharted!!
i was really hoping they'd keep it an old-schol hard-core rpg, o well, i'll buy it anyway of coruse. having said that, the new skill tree is definitly cool looking.
the skill tree is bloody coool :) the new UI is awesome. there is more space and u get to see things well
look graet and i am going to get it, however the interface looks ugly comared to the first game but it might not be done yet
