In this episode, Jess McDonell extends the look at gamer types to four new kinds ranging from Builders to Analysts.
Oh yeah! I use to be an extrovert, but more of an analyse completionist these days. I love Layton, Ace Attorney and various other puzzle games. Though I do love my APB:R, DotA2 and L4D2 on my PC. So maybe more of a mixture of many things :)
This one was more difficult as I meet the reader, builder, and introvert styles of the three I am most likely the buidler
I'm kind of all 4 of these. I like building and just spent an hour in Oblivion decorating my house with all the stuff I stole. I enjoy puzzles and single player games usually. And I have a degree in English so I love reading everything in a game. I spend a lot of time exploring in game lore and really immersing myself in a game world. I also take it out of the game and read a lot of lore on wikis and other fan generated content. Lots of talented people out there breathing life through the written word into fictional worlds and really fleshing them out.
Introvert reader. However being the latter isn't really a choice, I just feel compelled to experience it all. So I guess I'm a completionist as well.
none of theses fit me. Im alittle bit of all of them. So idk what you would call that , I guess just Gamer
So I'm a reader, an introvert, and an analyst. I've read every codex piece and dialogue option in Mass Effect and Dragon Age! I despise multiplayer with a passion (maybe I just suck)! I've played through portal at least five times to try and solve every puzzle with as few moves and portals as possible!
One thing is true than most here: this kind of gamers love going at their own pace, as I do. But why call brain teasers the ambiental puzzles of Darksiders 2 with this implicity huh? now I feel stupid cuz I've been stuck for half and hour in some parts. :(
A reader sometimes, builder... sure I like building large bases, analyst almost never since I lose patience and get annoyed by too complex and abstract puzzles even though I eventually solve them... and introverted at times too....
I would agree with most of you guys we all are every type of gamer from time to time but there is a certain type of "play style that satisfyes our needs" witch we use it more often than the others and in my case i tink i am the READER gamer (combined with the analist...i like puzzles) :p
So I think every example game of every type, I've played at least one of. Minecraft, Portal, Mass Effect, Half-Life 2, World of Warcraft, even the more obscure X3 and EVE Online, I'm all over the board.
Well, so far I've been a little bit of all the types, but this set of 4 describes me a lot better than the last one. Tbh, I don't think I know anyone that's just purely one type of gamer.
Okay, so way too much time on Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 this last week..haha, what it just came to the app store. I am definitely a builder.
yes introvert and analyst.. Im somewhat of a reader too, I like to feed on the backstory... NOT a builder at all..
I couldn't relate to any of the gamer types in part one. But this episode gave me one that I could relate to, which is the Introvert. I usually play offline and would not bother with competitive multiplayer or co-operative play.
Still depends on the game for me. I don't directly fit any of these categories. I'm more of a little bit of all of these.
I'm definately the "introvert" and also tend to be a "reader". RPGs are no fun without getting to know the people and the world
