This is so true. And multiplayer is socks. I have everyday connection lost with the host and lose all my XP points.
I had so much fun playing this, made me laugh loads (and in the way it was supposed to, not because it was bad). The combat was good enough to entertain and keep you on your toes but it certainly wouldn't win any awards.
this was quite like hl and cs,,,multplayerwise,,great fun=) and also singelplayer was great fun all the way,,took quite a time to finish a great puzzles,,enemies and shooting,,was quite satisfying,,speically puzzles and all the areas and levels so nice,,even multiplayer has more weapons now cool;) ,,,the humour well not the best,,but it

Man, There is nothing "old school" about this game. If it was, why does it have regen Health , two weapon slot like halo and turret/driving sections like cod or pretty much any game? The "old school" Duke was having tons of weapons with him and the 100% health meter made you look around for secrets for med or other weapons. Levels able you let you go into different paths to get to your goal and really fantastic level design. This is a linear, crappy, scfi game with Duke in it. People who like this most likely got the it for like 3$. They didn't pay the whole 60$. I don't cake if you like it but just stop saying that this game is the same or plays like the older, more better worth your money duke games *Duke Nukem 3D* DNF is not old school :P.
1 Like lol felt like reading all the comments on this game and such... i have to say i still love the game because of its old school style... which I am assuming is also the reason why it got such low scores. but still my only real complaint is the load times..... oh well next time im sure Gearbox will actually make the next Duke Nukem game (instead of "finishing" one like this one) and it will be way more awesome

2 Like This game was not that bad. Just a bit too linear and not enough weapons(Duke Zero hour had a lot more guns). Most reviewers on gamespot don't know what is up... they didn't even review Duke Nukem Zero Hour(one of the best duke games if you can be careful and stay alive).
Could of been much MUCH! better. I mean working on it for 12 years youd think they would of had a winner here but....no

2 Like I just bought this game for $5 on Steam. I was skeptical, but I really don't know what the hell this guy is talking about... I had a ton of fun playing through this game. I really cannot stand Kevin. This game was great!
Just bought off of steam for $5 for the midweek sale. Had 8 minutes left until the sale was over, so I decided to go for it.
Got it new and sealed very cheap, even for that price i still feel i'm playing a fully playable leaked beta...
i knew that randy pitchford was saying lies.. dont know why i just had bad feeling all the time that guy was apperaing in interviews talking about duke.. lies lies lies
2 Like @GabrielOnuris Not 100% sure by what you mean but I digress. The amount of negative reception DNF recieved is insane. By no means its amazing or great, but its not terrible or broken as almost everyone keeps saying. I don't meant to argue about this anymore, since people act insane if someone has a different opinion of a game. If anyone hates the game, fine by me.
@majema007 You've already answered your question: hypocrisy. You can't expect too much of a person who expects a cavern to be well lit. Look at the text review.
Got this along with Homefront for about 10 bucks. Maybe I'm a masochist...maybe it's just morbid curiosity. I will probably destroy both of these games after I'm done playing through them and crying - would feel like a hero having saved others from these abominations.
gearbox and 2K have bought the rights to the duke nukem franchise, lets hope the sequel is better than this

1 Like Great review by gamespot. The most annoying thing of the game was pointed several times by the reviewer: TOO LITTLE SHOOTING. I didn't bought a fps game to search for didos and popcorn on a nightclub. And I don't want a stupid lapdance. I want to shoot stuff, just like i did it on Duke Nukem 3D - A really great game.
2 Like I finished this yesterday. Like few others have been saying, I don't fully understand the hate surrounding this game. I found it really enjoyable. Some of Duke's lines were amusing, and it had a good variety of interesting weapons and enemies. Though I agree there were too many stretches where there were no monsters. It was kind of sad at the end when Duke said "I aint dead, I'm coming back for more", because I imagine he won't be now.
crysis I had the same view before it came out thought it looked like a fun ride but turned out crap.

I have to agree with the reviewer on this. It looked good to me at first glance, then on playing it, it was just boring and cheaply crude even for Duke.
It kind of looks cool to me, and one of the reasons it seems so old is they started making it during the release of the PS2!! LOL

I don't understand why even a fan of Duke Nuken would buy this game. Why buy a crap game just because you enjoyed an older game which was good? Makes no sense. If a game is crap, it's crap, doesn't matter what it's called
