It probably needs it, and this is coming from someone who actually likes this game.

while i agree it needs it... the nature of an MMO is to get changed constantly while in play... look at FFXIV it came out 2010 and its been available to play (not a beta) for 2 years an din the process went through overwhelming changes.. including the upcoming one....
they can just do that with dust release it as it is and update it as necessary until it stop sucking.. because the way I look at it if a game is in beta for a year+ when it is released i dont expect it to meet my expectation I expect it to EXCEED them I wanna see a years worth of work difference lol... the game should be a 20 outta 10 by the time it comes out at this rate without a single flaw (isnt the point of a beta to test for flaws? if youre in beta for a year theres no reason it should have a flaw after that time) instead of the 6 outta 10s Im sure reviews are gonna give it.

XIV is a terrible example since it was rushed out way too fast and as a result was a terrible game at launch requiring at least a year of free to play status before it was even kind of worth paying a monthly fee for and ultimately requiring a complete and total overhaul from a new team within SE to bring it up to current MMO standards.
As an MMO, a year of various beta testing isn't unheard of as we haven't really even begun testing the limits of the game or even seen most of it's actual content. Currently we're still messing around with the core gameplay at most.
Personally, the longer it's in beta the better. I'd rather they take their time and fix their problems rather then rush it out and still have major issues on release.

well yeah if they take 3 years tweaking the game before release and we get reviews of 8/10 or higher than Id say it was worth the wait but I guarantee that even with all the waiting when it finally comes out its still gonna get 6s and lower... to which I say.. why make us wait this long for a game that only turned out to be "ok" in the end?

no that means it SHOULD be fantastic... but just because a game SHOULD be doesnt mean it always turns out that way
