I'm planning on getting a 7 day booster. If I play most of the day for about 3 days out of the week is the active booster more affective or passive?

well it depends on when you actually activate it too
If you were to get a 7 day active and turn it on on Saturday or Sunday, play from said day you activated it till cap, then do it again after Wednesday (SP cap reset) before the day you activated it there'd be no question as to active being better
But if that isn't the case and you say cant play much then passive would be better
Really its all about scheduling, planning and how well you can follow the plan

What's an SP cap reset?

What you have to consider is that with a passive booster, you're buying a set amount of SP. With active, it varies depending how much you play like EX said. If you're not going to play much, go passive. Otherwise, active is the way to go.

Every week your allowed 190k SP w/o a booster (its slightly higher with an active booster). Once you hit it you get SP based upon match WP up to 1000, so with active booster you could get 1500 SP post cap. The cap resets Wednesday, signifying you have another 190k SP

Passive: W/O Booster - 168,000/week
With Booster - 252,000/week
84,000 difference
Active: W/O Booster - 190,000/week
With Booster - 285,000/week
95,000 difference
Assuming you hit the cap, Active Boosters are indeed better but only by 11,000.

I guess it all depends on which voice you're trying to hear.

One thng I was wonder is can you take off a booster, pause it's timer and reuse it later? Or if your remove a booster is it gone forever and you get nothing, even if it's time isn't up?
I was currious if you could even take them off.

Another thing to consider is the cost. Assuming you don't plan on playing a lot AFTER you skill cap has been reached for the week you can get different levels of active boosters. A One day booster cost only 2k, a 3 day 3.5k and a 7 day cost 7k. A some what moderate player can get their skill cap in 3 days pretty easily, just a few 4-6hr sessions over those three days and you'll be done. If you boost up over the weekend, or what ever your days off happen to be, you'll be good and get your full SP for less than 7k. If your mad crazy you MIGHT even able to pull off the Skill cap in one day.
Unless your planning on playing a lot of matches after the skill cap has been reached there isn't much of a reason to get the 7 day booster for active use. You can buy at least two lower ranked boosters for the price of one 7 day booster and get two weeks worth of SP, without worrying about doing it at the end of the week.
The passive boosters imo needs work. Sure it's easier but the rewards aren't that great and it cost just as much as 7 day active booster. It's 11k shorter by the previous posters math on the skill cap alone. Never mind if you play matches AFTER the cap.
It's too bad I don't think you can buy things like the Merc pack more than once.... cause a 30 day booster, a bunch of Aur and more for 19.99 beats any other offer on the table.

You can buy the Merc pack more than once actually, and if you mistakenly do it in-marketplace, you'll wind up with multiple BPO copies of the items it comes with. Ergo, if you're doing it twice, make sure to do it in the PS store so you can assign the items individually.

Its like I said
Look at the week you wanna get a booster
Make a schedule and follow it. Its vastly superior to do this then just getting a booster

so.... it's gonna cost me about 5 bucks to get some extra SP for about a week? seems like a month worth of boosters would be enough to just buy a whole new game. either way, I just can't justify paying extra money just to get something I can get for free anyway. having a head start on my opponents shouldn't mean that much and that's all you're paying for.
