Combining Dynasty Warriors and Mobile Suit Gundam was a good idea, until you see the finished product. Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 was no exception. The gameplay was interesting and fun, until the third mission in. That is when you finally realize that you are playing different variations of the same overall mission, and that is to defeat the commanders and take over/defend all the fields. It gets boring and the only reason why I continued this game was to unlock stuff. The official mode follows the Amuro/Char era of the Universal Century (Mobile Suit Gundam, Zeta Gundam, Gundam ZZ, and Char's Counterattack). The plot is very good and is the only redeemable part of the game, since it follows the plot of the anime. However, I cannot say the same for the plot of the mission mode. It only shallowly follows the anime or discarded it for a new one. For that, it it really hit and miss. Even though most of the voice actors from the anime series return for this game (except for a few noticeable characters). But even though the voice acting fall short due to a bad script. To the new VA of Domon, there is a concept called overacting, and you are doing it. The mission mode gets grating because of the shallow, repetitive gameplay. Finally, even though there are a lot of characters and mobile suits in this game, they still left out 4 series in this game. These series are The 08th MS Team, 0080: War In The Pocket, 0083: Stardust Memory, and After War Gundam X. I feel like some of the characters could've been taken out so that they could include the characters from the missing series. Overall, Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 is only for the hardcore Gundam fan or the hardcore Dynasty Warriors fan.
