 @ukogmickey I completely agree! Earth Defense Force is one of those games you have to actually start on Easy and work your way up so you get progressively better weapons to take on the harder difficulties, otherwise the game is much too difficult.

Believe the hype: EDF:IA is a fun 3rd Person Shooter! It's not perfect, but it's a fun to play title!

Alot of people will play this game and think " Yeah Im pretty good at shooters I will crank up the diff off the bat " Dont bother, I think the game is designed so you play through multiple times so basically you need to unlock higher tier weapons to cope, This game was very hard just on hard when I first started, On Inferno was impossible, Now Im Tier 6 Hard is easy but Inferno is extremely challenging, Quite a bit of slowdown online but other than that Its amazing how much fun it is blasting away hordes of insects and trying to unlock those beastly powerfull weapons.

good plain fun for when I take a break from work... this sounds just right! Even my kid likes it

Liked the first will get this one, hope there is more games. I would have liked a bit of a story or something more than an improved repeat but it's still fun.

It grinds my gears when I see a COD comparison with a newly released game even though they may not be of the same genre . Since you brought it up , I'd say Black ops Deserved a 9 score . Last time I checked (last night) there were 500k players online and that's almost daily . Game is freakin' mainstream because it's really that good

@Telekenesis123 totally agree, reviewers became robot fanboys with no real opinion, that's why I don't use Gamespot as my baseline anymore, I visit this website only to check the gameplay videos. Gamespot: You s*ck ! If graphics were a huge problem I wouldn't still be playing some PS2 games!

I loved the first one and picked this up on release day. Haven't had a chance to play it yet though.

@Gelugon_baat LOVE EDF score id like to see better but i understand. The Call of Duty :BO review is good to compare to all games. COD:BO is a 7.5 game but they rated high for it being COD like most sites. Issue is not that they compare the review of COD to every game its that in every review but COD they take of points for issues in games that are in COD that they ignored. It's called bad writing and reviews.

Though the sound effects are mentioned as being weak during the review, they're one of the things I'm most impressed by in the videos. At the very least, there's more to the soundscape than the usual bullet firing and explosions you hear in just about every other shooter. The enemies sound great.

This actually looks like a video game this makes me cry cause now i'v been playing old games for a while now i can get a new game which actually is a game

@Telekenesis123: lol, I agree with Ninjitsu_Gamer. 7.0 is a good score. I mean, if it was a film, and the critics gave it a score of seven out of ten, we would probably go and see it.

I really hate spiders, I could never play it. :( It's a shame because it seems well made as a game.

Great game, not a big fan of the ending though.

I don't understand the low score given. You called the game "mindless" but you have to think of tons of things and enemies at once with actual different abilities and attack patterns; unlike Call of Duty and its generic equivalents you basically fight the same guys, maybe 10 at a time the whole game and in basically the same game for 10 years, yet it gets stellar reviews and isn't called lacking in content, generic and repetitive. So many reviewers are blinded by "blockbuster mentality" they are not capable of judging a game properly, logically and fairly. If the same rules were applies to COD 25, it would receive a 2 out of 10, *that* game is mindless. the same human soldiers with the same weapons, same attack patterns over and over and over for 15 years now. A game has 4 player co-op, pure fun and mayhem, *innovation* and it can barely muster a 7.

since all the ppl who don't like this game end up having hidden msgs which 'doesn't meet the display cirteria'..i guess my work here is off..and btw,@TomMcShea: r those elements good enough to hold a game by themselves at this current generation ? believe me it's better than lots of new games,but i hope next time they'd take care of some realistic details...i'm done here,hide the msg everybody and enjoy the game ;)

I don't know about the single player but if there is a split screen like the one in the review, or if it's a 4 player split screen I think it can be quite fun with some buddies on the couch

@destrozz Subjective opinion. Myself and others found DNF to be an interesting experience. A game which is fun and no more.

bad game no matter what, how did it get 7??

Game is just flat out fun, I remember the days when that was enough. This generation of gamers have lost touch. You guys do realize that some companies dont have a hugh budget like others, yet they managed to release a good product, unlike some other game *cough* duke nukem charged 60 bucks for trash.

If you ever played games like "Body Harvest" on the N64 this game is nostalgic.....Its not the greatest looking not the sharpest but its just plain fun good and solid at 40 shells. Rather than cough up another 100 bucks on another run of the mill shooter. At best you have to enjoy this game for what it is.

This game is just pure fun, if your looking for a real serious game go somewhere else, this is a co op explosion of awesomeness, no real point besides killing large bugs and robots gotta love them edf.
