My faves are VIII and XII.

I do agree that 12 is excellent. I loved the whole world in XII. Best part was being of a high enough level and skill to finally track down each of those glowing spheres and kicking their asses sideways.

Ohhh, which FF had the impossible boss? I don't remember its name, but it was supposed to be the most difficult one in the game, and it'd heal itself for a ton of health all the time and just rip even the best parties to shreds.

Was that FFXII? I think it was one of the ones I haven't played.

Each FF title has one of those bosses. On FFVII it was Emerald Weapon. On FFVIII it was Omega Weapon. I'm not so sure about the others though.

Really? I thought Ruby Weapon was harder (then again I did a bunch of ridiculous preparing before fighting Emerald, like mastering Final Attack + Phoenix Summon materia for everyone).

In response to reading a few pages back... It seems the Dreamcast era was one of the few generations that brought more people together... I know Riveller has played Bomberman Online on DC, and the community for that is still strong to this day... for the most part lol. Our board may be dying slowly and surely, but the friendships aren't. I still talk to people everyday, globally... I met every single one of them on BMO.

This board seems to share the same mentality... although it's a bit more... dramatic and poetic-ish, haha. Again, I use to frequent this board quite often, but now I only get to hop on every now and then. But I don't really see stuff like this resulting from this newer generation of gaming. Maybe it was because the DC was pretty much the first online console? (Phantasy Star Online, Speed Devils Online, Bomberman Online, Chu Chu Rocket, being the more prominent titles). Just thought I'd share my thoughts.

Hmm, I never got the chance to play BMO even though I wanted too

haha, poetic, I kinda like the sound of that, but yeah, I know what you mean. The DC does tend to have that sort of collective fanbase where the true fans kinda stuck it out together on these boards despite the DC's criminal fall from the gaming stage. Modern boards just don't have the same sort of mentality. Granted, they speak about the games, but on most boards there is too much bickering over trivial things. On here everyone has their say and we respect that.

It's good to see you popping in every now and again Shamu

I would love to play a game of Saturn Bomberman with you guys and gals. If it were on live, that would be super awesome. Esp considering that we would all have our own screens so an 8 way battle wouldn't be hard in the slightest.

Doesn't Gens emulate Saturn? It also supports online client kaillera. Me and friends used to play MK64 on Project 64 using kaillera all the time... I'm sure this would work too. Just a thought. Even if it's against ToS haha.

I've never known of Gens to do that, but it would be nice to play.

Oh, I always loved the space course. Powering up the bombs and firing them while people are all tangled fighting each other. haha

Are the ones on live any good?

The other board I frequent is getting itself into all kinds of crazy (especially the crazy that I don't like and never ever expected to appear on GameFAQs), so I hope y'all don't mind if I crash here a while.

Speaking of Bomberman, I think I've only played the N64 titles. (Quest and Tournament too, but those were ages ago.) Oh, and Generation. But that was years ago too and ICR what happened to my copy.

No Saturn Bomberman for me - sounds like a pretty cool game, though. I should probably play more of the older Bomberman titles.

I want to post a picture on my phone of Bomberman I took mid-match once... But I don't think I have a good way to do it (trying to get a smartphone still!).

In it, it's a 7 vs 1 match with me as Bonks as the 1, the score being 2-0 in my favor. I thought it was pretty funny so I sent it to my cousin. That was only against the computers of course (set to lvl. 4, although there's no way to prove that). Of course, once you get actual people in, the dynamic changes entirely. Like most (or all) competitive games, really.

Celebi, Saturn Bomberman is the best one available to date. Other than that, I'd recommend Bomberman Tournament on the GBA - that had a decent adventure mode which is worth playing. Then there is Mega Bomberman, which was decent for an early Bomberman title, but isn't so hot any more. More recent Bomberman titles don't seem to have the same fan base or popularity :/ Shame The Bomberman Red and Blue on the GBA are disappointing. The adventure modes for them are pretty crappy.

Oh, Taylor, I've played on level 4 plenty. For some reason, I always thought the AI seemed weaker on 4. Don't know why. Plus, you're right about human competition. There is only so much the computer AI can do before you can totally read their movements and annihilate their asses. Good human players do not fall in to the same traps and pit holes the computer does.

There are so many titles I'd like to play against you guys, Taylor, Celebi, Riveller and even those that only come in here so often, like Shamu. Games I'd love to play against others include:

    - Saturn Bomberman
    - Power Stone 2
    - Super Smash Bros Melee
    - Re-Volt - or some other form of racer where more than 4 players can play

Anyone know of any other good multi-player titles?

@ Celebi. I have noticed that you haven't been about like you were a couple months back. What is this other board? And, do you really need to ask. This board wouldn't be the same without, me, you and Taylor contributing all the time. We keep this board alive

You know what. We should do a let's play Ecco. All the titles in order, and discuss things about them. Just an idea if anyone is interested. haha. I've got all the game, so I'd be down for playing a little of then whenever. I know I still struggle a crap load with Ecco 1. It's sooo hard. I cannot remember if I managed to beat it as a child, or if I used a password to get to the final level. I always liked to think that I did manage to complete it from start to finish, but I don't think I did. That ice level is insanely difficult. However, I did manage to complete Tides of Time and Jr, and Defender of the Future numerous times. Oh, how I would have relished the chance to play that beta version of DC Ecco 2. I bet it would have been amazing. Sigh, I only hope that one day a new version will be released.

Hm, I had been experimenting with level 3 and 4 as well. It seems like level 4 is more likely to wander back and forth doing nothing, until you force the issue. Particularly on Wide mode. It is a "secret" level too, in a way. I'm not sure what they intended. If they were programmed a bit better taking on a team would be a lot more difficult, if only because the team can afford to kamikaze. It's the mad bombers that can bother you when you play against multiple opponents.

I'd be down for some sort of let's play. Also, those multiplayer titles you mention are all very good. Toy Commander is another 4-player DC title, but I haven't played that mode with anyone enough to say if it's good.

You guys were talking a bit about Final Fantasy, and now 4-player games, so I think this segues perfectly into Crystal Chronicles! A polarizing game upon its release, I still found it pretty enjoyable. An old friend and I have a file saved right before the last boss, but we don't get together anymore (and haven't for a long time) and so lately I have been feeling the need for some resolution!

Yeah. It seems like reception of certain Bomberman games is pretty lukewarm; especially some of the latest ones (I never hear much about any DS-game Bomberman, for one). Oh, and 64, too -- though I love that game to death, despite its debatable quality. TSA did most things better.

Hmmm... I'm trying to think of games with decent multiplayer, but I don't know of many. Smash Bros. and CoD come to mind pretty much instantly, but I don't play CoD (three guesses why). SSBB might be feasible, somehow.

@ Celebi. I have noticed that you haven't been about like you were a couple months back. What is this other board? And, do you really need to ask. This board wouldn't be the same without, me, you and Taylor contributing all the time. We keep this board alive

    Awww thanks :'D

    WELL

That board is the Metroid: Other M board, which has lately been full of arguments and dumb topics, not to mention some dumb users. You'd have thought it all would have died off after the game's been out a while now, but it hasn't. It used to be a pretty good unofficial social board, but now, there're only a few of the old folk and there's not much in the way of decent threads.

'Course, I could just start getting more Ignore-List-friendly.

You know what. We should do a let's play Ecco. All the titles in order, and discuss things about them. Just an idea if anyone is interested. haha. I've got all the game, so I'd be down for playing a little of then whenever.

If I had the proper equipment, I'd so be in. <_<; Dunno what's actually necessary for LPs; capture cards, I think, but I only looked into those a while ago and I never actually found one. Or, like, Skype connections of some kind, for commentary. I'd have to look up what's actually used. XD

I know I still struggle a crap load with Ecco 1. It's sooo hard. I cannot remember if I managed to beat it as a child, or if I used a password to get to the final level. You and me both. I never beat EtD, and I've had to use passwords to get to almost every level beyond the mid-prehistoric area. I remember "killing" the Asterite in the past, after a lot of trying, but I think that's as far as I ever managed to get, legitimately. Welcome to the Machine is something that I have never beaten. :p

Continuing my message above because I ran out of characters/quote blocks.

However, I did manage to complete Tides of Time and Jr, and Defender of the Future numerous times. Oh, how I would have relished the chance to play that beta version of DC Ecco 2. I bet it would have been amazing. Sigh, I only hope that one day a new version will be released.

Don't have Ecco Jr., but I did get through most of ToT.

Yeah, Sentinels would've been awesome (assuming you speak of the canceled sequel to Defender). Actually, a lot of the original concepts for Defender were pretty amazing too -- I think the last five levels were originally intended to be more, and the final fight was supposed to be different as well (or at least the Foe Queen was). She was supposed to be a giant spider-crab thing that jumped around the clifftops, trying to get you.

All we can do now is hope for a new Ecco title, I guess, but I'm not really getting my hopes up per se. It's been quite a while since the last one, and the original team has most likely disbanded, even if they want to make more Ecco games. And they'd have to let others put them on their systems, since IIRC Sega doesn't make its own systems anymore.

Woah, you were thinking of all this tech for let's play. lol. I was just thinking we play and discuss. So, for example, we all started Ecco the Dolphin tonight. We just discuss out progress on this board. Giving tips, hints and strategies for each level. I don't have any equipment to properly connect to you guys :/ Wish I did, though.

    OR THAT.

It'd be much easier, for sure. XD We might be able to set up some sort of instant messenger chatroom of a sort, though I'm not usually on the Web at the same time that I play games. Although, I guess it would be as good a time as any to see if I can play through all of Defender without getting too bored. :p
