Enslaved: Odyssey to the West User Review
- Difficulty:
- Just Right
- Time Spent:
- 20 to 40 Hours
- The Bottom Line:
- "Amazing"
A unique and amazing game... A truly great console adventure without the hassle of quest givers, merchants, and inventory management!
You just jump in and follow the heroes on a wild journey that contains enough combat and storyline to keep you entertained for hours. The developers put enough hard work and creativity into the environments that the game is sure to please.
The sci-fi staff combat is simple enough for casuals, and new skills can be chosen as you collect "tech orbs", leading you to scamper around the terrain and pick them up (the orbs are scattered a bit too frequently, and thus become more of distraction rather than a hunt for a useful reward, otherwise I would have given the game an even higher score).
I was so enthralled with the characters that I found myself wishing the story did not have to end...

Enslaved has moments of brilliance, completely restricted by its unsatisfying basic gameplay.

Superb, immersive story and brilliantly written characters make up for average gameplay.
