Enslaved: Odyssey to the West User Review
- Difficulty:
- Just Right
- Time Spent:
- 10 to 20 Hours
- The Bottom Line:
- "Grows on you"
Enslaved: Odyssey To The West is a fun deep platformer set in the aftermath of a robot armagedon. Earth is a shell of what it once was, cities are gone and are gone to nature. You play as Monkey voiced by Andy Serkis a survivor who through capture meets Trip. A fiesty young redhead also captured by robots who needs to get back to her home village.
You as Monkey a tough warrior agrees to help her. The gameplay is very platformer like Tomb Raider. Jumping from ledges and swinging to get to set goals. The combat is hack and slash but enjoyable. Graphically the game's scenary is beautifully done by Namco. Cities are stunning covered in grass and shrub showing the years gone by since the robots came.
Also the growing relationship between Monkey and Trip is an equal reason to play. Enemies range from small robots to robots that fill the screen and you can upgrade your weapons through the game.
The Good:
- Amazing setting of a post-apocalypse world caused by robots.
- Stunning visuals of fallen cities and humankind.
- Gameplay is smooth and robust.
- Game lasts over a good 10 hours at least.
- Andy Serkis voices Monkey very well.
The Bad:
- Still too short. Would prefer over 15 hours.
- Combat can be quite challenging in later levels.
Enslaved has many elements for most gamers to enjoy. Best to look for pre-owned. I found it for £10 and it was well worth it.

Enslaved has moments of brilliance, completely restricted by its unsatisfying basic gameplay.

This is how the world will look after the war. The buildings still stand, but they are in a state of ruin. Walls, ceilin
