Anybody got any good tactics for taking on the Deathclaws?

Specifically the Deathclaws at Quarry Junction and the Alpha and Brood Mother. Been having good luck with a fully repaired sniper rifle and hitting the regulars Claws from far off, as they will engage combat, but as you are way to far away, they cannot find you. However, every time I engaged the Alpha, I get killed, or my companions head in and engage the Alpha, get knocked down, come back to life and slowly coax the Alpha towards my position and give me away. What's a good weapon or strategy to work in there and take them out with ease? Note, I do carry stealth boys for emergencies (learned that early on) and I am at level 20 with a max strength.

the way i did it was to use a stealth boy and drop a ton of land mines, ( i put 12 of them in a pile) some where then after the stealth wears off shoot the alpha with a sniper rifle ,(in the head preferably). if it does not kill him then he will start to chase you. just lead him over the mines. if you drop enough mines then they will cripple his legs and slow him down so that he cant catch you.

OR...........................

you can use a stealth boy and sneak in and climb up on a machine or building. if you are hicg enogh then they cant get you and you can pick them off as you please. after i crippled the alpha male i climbed up on top of one of the cranes and none of the death claws could reach me.

Very good ideas, I will try them out and see how things work out. Hopefully ... things'll go out with a bang! Bwahahaha, sorry, had to.

Yes there is a way as long as you have enough ammo. Try to have boone and ED-E with you as they help, you can pick off the first young deathclaw easy,(i like to save after everyone i pick off on a new save file in case you get stuck) and make your way in and keep to the left until you see some rocks you can get up onto (once i managed to get up on those the deathclaws couldn't target me and started walking in circles, i picked them off one by one, so pretty much find places up on something where they cant reach you.

If you dont have the wild wasteland trait you can get the rare gaus rifle and it takes a alpha one shot in the head two die

I got a good tactic but it may require a 8000 cap investment. 1. go to gun runners 2. buy the Anti-material rifle 3. get armor piercing rounds. After that your set, just make sure you maintain your guns condition and keep your AP rounds at a steady stock and deathclaws are not even a challenge anymore. I know the cap price is very high but, i am level 20 and am killing deathclaws with ease, this helps especially with red lucy's quest. The rifle never fails, i guarantee that you can clear out the junction quarry easily.
