I just shot him and killed the NCR just cause its so cool ^____^ but if you want to not piss the NCR off just try and pickpocket it from him :P but he has high Perception so it may take multiple tries :(
-
You could try sneaking in and using Mister Sandman or whatever it is that lets you kill sleeping people. I think it would be easier to just shoot him and haul out of the base then stay away from the NCR until they cool down.
-
The best way to get it is to buy a anti material rifle and load it with fire rounds and enter vats and exit he willl then be on fire and the NCR dont become hostile when he dies of the flames
-
Also, I killed him. However, I was hidden and shot him with Abelne Kid BB gun, which is completely silent, without losing NCR fame or having any of the NCR go aggressive towards me.
-
Oh, and i also had Boone with me who didn't seem to mind...
-
Try silencing a weapon using the sandman perk or just kill everyone there if you have no interest in joining the Ncr also pickpocketing may work if you have a high skill in it
-
I havent had the oppurtunity to try myself with him but if i want someones weapon i shoot it off of them. Hope that helps

You can also give him a more powerful weapon. He will equip it making it easier to pick pocket his.

To keep him alive, put a trail carbine in his inventory (fully repaired), then provoke him into attacking by punching, as soon as he equips the gun, holster your fists. He will have switched to the carbine, allowing you to steal the repeater from his inventory.

You DO NOT NEED TO KILL HIM to get the weapon, the "easiest" way is to steal his ammo by pickpocketing and then leave, if he is in Camp McCarran you should enter the building or leave the airfield, if he is in Forlon Hope he is at the tent so after stealing the ammo just leave the tent, and then return to his current location, now La longue Carabine will be in his inventory because he doesn't have ammo preset for it and unequipped it, now you can steal it, but it is actually pretty hard to succeed on that pickpocket attempt so save before trying.
If you just want to get the weapon fast, Hide and place a Live Frag mine on his pocket and let him die, and as long as you are HIDDEN you won't lose reputation on the NCR, works for anyone you want to kill and take his stuff, specially useful with the Boomer with the 3 Mini Nukes that respwans every 3 days.
But if you plan on Killing him be sure to complete Raul quest first as he is part of it. -
kill him. Make sure you complete the i dont hurt anymore quest first because killing him will automaticly fail this quest. Also, it helps to kill him before killing driver nephi in three card bounty because this moves him and the rest of first recon to camp forlorn hope and it is even harder to kill him without being cought there than it is at camp mccarran. it is easiest to kill him with the ratslayer but the 22. smg 22. pistol and abelline bb gun work too. also using a stealth boy is advised.

you got to go to the NCR road block @ nelson raid the trunk for c4 and a detnoater then go to forlorn hope get all the fire things ptu 2 on the ground next to sterling and the rest on the table throw down 1 or more c4 go to the barrels in the corn move them and cover ur self and detanate but it must show hidden
-
The only 2 options are to \kill him or simpily just pickpocket
-
Esther/fatman, stand at back-right of tent, aim for centre ceiling, bosh, job done. Reputation with NCR was not damaged, no retaliation from NCR upon exiting tent.
