Some of the options to get her are:
Option A: Investigate Crimson Caravans and the Silver Rush
1. Crimson Caravan: The evidence is located inside a average locked safe in McLafferty's office, next to her desk. The key can be stolen from McLafferty.
2. Silver Rush: The evidence is located inside a hard locked safe behind a hard locked door (the key to this door can be obtained by pickpocketing Gloria Van Graff). There is also a Hard computer terminal to unlock the safe.
3. Take the evidence of the Caravan attacks to Jackson at the Mojave Outpost.
4. Cass receives Calm Heart perk (+50 HP).
Option B: Assassinate Alice McLafferty and Gloria Van Graff
1. Kill McLafferty
2. Kill Gloria Van Graff
3. Cass receives Hand of Vengeance perk (+15% damage with guns). But I already killed everyone at the Silver Rush. Can I still get her, or am I screwed?

Those are the ways to complete her companion quest, not recruit her. To recruit her, you need to work for the Crimson Caravan and convince her to sell Cassidy Caravans.

You're gonna hafta be a smooth talker of sorts to get her as a companion.
Minimum speech of 20 can get you Rose. You need the perk that gives you double points from skill mags and the Naughty Nightwear (=50 speech).
