- "Best in series"
So my friend let me borrow his game "Far Cry 2". I have played the original for the xbox and I must say, they greatly improved the game.
So First off, the game has a pretty good start. You go to Africa, contract malaria then it kicks off. The main point of the game is you have to kill this man named the Jackel, but it takes a long time to get to that point. So there are hundreds of side missions along with the main missions. The only handicap you have in the game is you need to take pills every once in awhile to calm your disease. By the way, there are no predator powers. :(
Second, I love freedom. I'm sure everybody loves a game where you can go where you want and do what you want without scripted levels or levels where everything is restricted. This game is all about freedom in Africa, you can do anything. You can steal vehicles and drive anywhere. There are weapon shops where you can select from a large portion of weapons. The money in this game is diamonds so you either have to find them or you get payed with them. Once you buy the weapons they are in a storage room for you to get anytime in the game. There are safe houses throughout the game also. I mean the map is huge. It is just miles and miles of land to cover. Took me about 2 hours to walk across it. But still, you have complete total freedom in the game. And there is actually more than one huge map. There are a couple other places in the game.
Third, the game is just plain fun. I mean really, I can take an rpg and go blow up a base for all I care raid all the ammo and health and diamonds, and then leave and go spend them on whatever the heck I want. My favorite missions are the ones where you unlock weapons by attacking weapon convoys. They are awesome.
Fourth, the game has amazing graphics and sound. Well yeah the voice acting isn't what you hoped for but I could care less. Guns sound great in the game, sounds like you are really shooting that shotgun and the visuals....Boy I could talk about those all day. The game visually is amazing compared to most. The water looks great the landscape and vegetation are drawn out and animated very well. I feel like i'm really in the jungle.
So all in all, if you liked Far cry 1, you will probably like this game. But if you love games like fallout, and gta4 you will love this game. It is just plain fun and an all around great game. But go ahead, if your not sure rent it first. But it's your personal opinion on how you enjoy the game. Have fun!

Tedium and repetition detracts from Far Cry 2's many unique ideas and compelling setting.
