    I was able to do it the first time, but now every time I go to the rucksack, it simply has an option for "discard".  Can you only sell items at certain locations or what?

    English is your friend. You wouldn't hack your friend to bits, would you?

     Ah, nevermind.  You have to go to the stores to sell stuff.  D'oh!

    go th the store or a safe house and you can sell stuff at the place where you sell guns.  you just scroll ofer to the right and it takes you to your bag where you can sell everythig
