Portal 2 Walkthrough

Hard-Light Surfaces

Floor 1

Blue should shoot their purple portal at the end of the hard light bridge and their blue portal at the wall on the left. Walk along the bridge and drop down to the second patch of gourd. Face left and move your blue to this white wall. Orange should walk along the light bridge into Blue's portals and out the other side. Fire one portal on the wall ahead and the other on the wall to the right. Both players can now walk through Orange's portals to reach the gate to the next zone.

In this next room Blue will have to place their purple portal at the end of the light bridge and the blue portal slightly below the grill overhead. Use the jam pad and slam into the bottom of the light bridge--as you descend back down place your blue portal further down the wall to land on the bridge. Blue should then enter their blue portal to wind up at the light bridge source.

Blue will then next need to move their blue portal out of the way and allow Orange to use the jump pad. Once gain, when Orange descends down Blue should place their blue portal so that Orange lands on the hard light bridge. Now on the bridge, Orange should shoot one portal at the other end of the bridge and the second portal near the button on the left. Head through these portals and press the button release a sphere at the ground level.

Orange will need to head back down and pick up the sphere, use the jump pad, and return to the light bridge. Remember: due to Orange carrying the sphere with them, Blue must be sure to first place the bridge under the grill, as this device will destroy the sphere. Once orange is up top, head over to the node and use it to exit the floor.

Floor 2

Blue will need to shoot their portals at the wall straight ahead and the other on the left. Orange should walk along the light bridge and place their orange portal at the wall to the left. Orange will then need to come back to the bridge source and place their red portal at the end of it (replacing one of Bleu's old portals).

Blue should walk through the red portal and place their blue portal on the wall to the right. Return back through the orange portal and place the purple portal over the red portal. Next, Orange must enter Blue's portals and place one portal at the wall ahead and their other portal high up on the right wall. The light bridge will now pass through all four portals, right to the floor's elevator.

Floor 3

Blue should first fire their portals to arrive on top of the light bridge. Once there, Blue should switch their portal so that their purple is at the end of hard bridge and their blue is below the sphere dispenser. Orange should move onto the bridge and fire one portal at the opposite end of the blue portal, and their second portal above the sphere sensor node. Blue should now hit the switch on the right, dispensing the sphere, which Orange must catch as it falls. Enter Orange's portals and drop off the sphere in the node to move on to the next area.

For this puzzle Blue should shoot their purple portal at the end of the light bridge above and the blue portal under the exit door. Orange should now shoot one portal on the opposite wall from the blue portal and another one in the small patch of light in the ceiling. This will create a wall directly in the jump pad's path. One at a time, both players should use the jump pad and enter the blue portal to the top of the light bridge. Once at the top, Blue should move their blue portal above Orange's portal on the wall. With the bridge now aligned towards the exit, move through the purple portal to finish the level.

Floor 4

Both players will need to do the following one at a time: Make one portal at the end of the light bridge and use the jump pad. As you start to fall, shoot your other portal below you, forming the light bridge. Walk through the portal to reach the next level and wait for your partner to complete the process. Afterwards, the second person to arrive at the top should shoot their lower portal at the incline overhead. Head through the portals to descend down to the exit that was above you.

For this level Blue should place their purple at the end of light bridge and the blue portal fall below the bridge. Enter through the portals and move across the bridge. Move the blue portal to one end of the chasm below. Orange will now need to enter Blue's portals to arrive at the light bridge. Shoot one portal at the opposite end of the blue portal and the other portal to the wall on the lower right. Both players should now enter Orange's portal to reach a few platforms that suddenly appear. From here Orange should pace one of their portals on the incline and their other on the small piece of floor over the waters below.

Blue should now shoot their blue portal at the white wall far off in the distance to bring the bridge over Orange's portal. Orange must now walk over the bridge and stand above their portal. Once in place, Blue should move their portal, disrupting the bridge, and causing Orange to fly to the exit. From here, Orange should place portals to allow Blue to reach the top as well, concluding the stage.

Floor 5

Orange should start out by placing their orange portal above the jump pad and their right portal to either side of the floor below the bridge. Blue should now head to the jump pad, through Orange's portals, and to the top of the light bridge. Orange should now set their red portal onto the small raise platform ahead. Next, Blue will need to head back down and use the jump pad to speed through Orange's portals.

Once in the air, fire the purple portal at the wall ahead to land on the bridge. Move forward and onto the small ledge on the right. From here, fire at the wall to the right to bring the bridge to the exit. Orange should move their portal to its previous location and use the jump pad to reach the bridge. Travel through Blue's portals to complete the area.

Blue should Place their purple portal above the jump pad and the blue portal at the end of the light bridge. Enter the jump pad, move to the end of the light bridge and place a blue portal on the incline passed the grill. Orange should use the jump pad to sail through the air and land passed the second grill. Place your red portal on the incline ahead.

Blue should first move their purple portal at the end of the bridge and place their blue portal on the wall directly under the second grill. This will allow Orange to drop down, move through Blue's portals, and reach the hard light bridge source. Blue should now move their blue portal near the entrance so both players can return. Now, Orange should place their orange portal above the jump pad, let Blue enter first, and then travel through second to reach the exit.

Floor 6

You'll need to use the hard light bridges to protect you from turret fire. First, Blue should set one portal at the end of the light bridge and a second on the right wall to block the turrets. Orange should place portals beyond the light bridge so both characters can get by. In the next area, Blue should fire off their portal to block one side of the turrets. Next, orange should place one portal at the end of Blue's bridge source, and another portal on the adjacent wall to block the second set of turrets. Move through the gat ahead to reach the next room.

Blue should start this puzzle by shooting their purple portal at the end of the light bridge below. Drop down, turn right, and place a portal on the above right to create a bridge to the switch and exit. Orange should now head through Blue's portal and set one portal next to the bridge and the other at the second light bridge up high. This will create a barrier that will block the turret's sights. Move out to the switch platform, lower the barrier to hit the switch, and quickly turn the barrier back on. Grab the sphere that drops and take it to the exit door to finish the floor.

Floor 7

Orange should place their red portal at the end of the light bridge and the orange portal on the wall ahead to block the turret's laser. Now, Blue should place one portal near the same wall in front and another at the top level near the jump pad. Orange should quickly place their portal higher to protect Blue from enemy fire. Now this it safe, Blue should place one portal above the jump pad and the other on the incline to the right. Use the jump pad to destroy the turret and approach the exit. Orange should head through Blue's portals to reach the next area.

When ready, Orange should place one portal at the end of the light bridge and another place on the wall ahead to block both of the turrets. With the area safe, stand on the weighted switch to lower a platform ahead. Blue should now place one portal on the newly revealed wall and a second on the wall to the left. Travel through the portals and land on a small island.

Shoot the purple portal on the target bull's eye to the right and the blue portal on the wall just to the left of target. Press the button in this area to expel garbage and destroy one turret. If your blue portal was misplaced, readjust it before hitting the button to destroy the other turret. Now place your blue back on the overhead wall again.

Press the button a third time to launch a cube over to Orange. Orange should take the cube and set it on the switch they were just on top of. Blue will next need to re-apply their portals (One of them will have disappeared when Orange walked off the switch) to allow both players to meet up. Move through the grill ahead to end the floor.

Floor 8

Blue should pass through the grill and take the sphere that spits out. Next, Orange should place one portal through the grate behind Blue, and the other on any nearby by wall. Blue can look up and hand the sphere to Orange through the portals. Place the sphere in the node to block off the laser and move on.

In the next area Blue should place their purple portal at the end of the light bridge and the blue portal ceiling on their side of the grill. Orange should pass the grill and place one portal on the incline and the other on the ceiling. When the flying orb smacks into the light bridge, Blue should place their blue portal on the incline. This will cause the sphere to pass through Orange's portals and roll around the bridge. Grab the sphere and take it to the door and open it.

For this next puzzle Orange should set their first portal at the end of the light bridge and their second on the high wall on the left. Both players should enter the portal to reach the top of the light bridge. Blue should fire their portals at both panels marked with a "1", one inclined and the other on the ground. Orange should do the same with the panels marked with "2"; however you must act quickly as this will disrupt the light bridge. If timed right, Orange and Blue will smack into each other, leading to the next room. Take the disc here and place it in the drive to finish the chamber.

Portal 2 is a great game. The levels were hard enough that I couldn't figure them out straight away, but could still noticed the solution after 5-10 minutes. Games like Modern Warfare 3 couldn't hold a candle.

Such a great game, the level design shows Valve's creativity. I wish companies like Infinity Ward would take a few hints while making mw3 and its levels. Modern Warfare 3 could use Valve's "touch", just look how great this and Team Fortress 2 is.

Brilliant game. Wish I had bought the first one before I played this one, but it's so good it doesn't matter. Excellent voice acting and brilliant puzzles - keep it up Valve!

@ icepop4who: If it's so easy and you don't need a guide, what are you doing here? Hmmmm.... Kind of strikes me as an 'I'm better than you guys statement to me'. The truth seems to be, I got stuck somewhere and needed a little nudge in the right direction.

I think this is a great game. but sometime u have to spend an hour on a single floor in the later levels because it gets a bit hard.but still a very good game

lol this is the easiest puzzle game ever. As long as you're not ADD or something, you don't need a guide. Just take your time with it.

Who writes this stuff? It's "levers", not "leavers"! Portal is the bomb, tho' (GLaDOS made me say that)

Pretty good guide, but for god's sake please learn the difference in "passed" and "past."

I love this phreaking game. Right when I thought it was going to end, it keeps on going! I thought it was more of Portal 1, then it goes nuts! The levels are organic, believable and atmospheric. Look out for my review. Incredible game.

What kind of idiot would actually use a Portal walkthrough? Solving puzzles is literally the only thing to do in this game. It's like paying money to have to read and follow a guide.

Without photos can be as frustrating to understand as some parts of the game. Try the youtube hints if you are really stuck.

If you liked the first Portal, you will love this one.. it has a good story and about 7hours of pure puzzel thinking. Some stages where way to easy and some took me a while to figure out. I also loved the twists of the game. To all of you that have played the game i only say "Im in space!" It was great fun.. Thinking of buying the game for ps3 aswell..

@Maxxramman ... *gag* there are three words I bet no one on this planet EVER expected to hear in a sentence: "amazing" and "will ferrell." WOW! I'm intrigued by how stupid parts of this game make me feel at times. To help with that I went and bought the first one. STILL have no idea how or why i'm blasting holes in walls just to be tested by this badly auto-tuned android! HOPEFULLY there will be sometime soon in the game where the greater meaning is revealed (I'd settle for the point ; ) Its also a little strange that the character you are supposedly playing as is a female. Hmmm maybe this is how a female feels if she chooses to play a FPS, i.e. CoD. Interesting.

@Kos1c & @XsickGamerX10 - It's more than just a puzzle game. It has a great story behind it and it ties itself with the Half Life Universe. I think it's a great game. It's better to have played the first one before playing the second.

@XsickGamerX10 I didn't know much about this game, and i got it yesterday. The game is a huge puzzle game, it's great fun, just sadly it's not as long. I've already completed it, took about 4-6 hours to do. But still one of those titles worth checking out. An easy 9/10 for me.

@bigkahunabuger portal 2 does not have a singleplayer section...only a game mode you can play by yourself...that shows gamestpot doesn't have a clue about games.

The achievement for the propulsion gel is "Stranger than Friction", not stranger than fiction, like the amazing movie with will Ferrell.

I would really discourage the use of a walkthrough for Portal 2. Its charm comes (at least partly) from the satisfaction of solving the puzzles, and being told what to do diminishes your experience of the game. I guess using one section if you're really, REALLY, stuck would be okay, but please go back and be sure that you need the help before seeking help.

I have Portal 2 and in my opionion it is to easy, I completed it in 7 Hours. The puzzles are good enought but there is only 1 way to solve a puzzle and it is easy to find the solution. The Story is realy great it has some realy good twists in it.
