Purpose in Life
The engineer is the unsung hero of Team Fortress Classic. While the bards
write glowing poems about the adventures of scouts and soldiers, it is
really the engineer that is the backbone of the game. A tight offense
with lots of scoring doesn't mean anything if the opposition is consistently
grabbing your flag and keeping up with your team. What you need is a well-placed
sentry gun to tear the enemy players to shreds before they can even think
about grabbing the flag. Enter the engineer, a shotgun wielding, sentry
building, EMP throwing madman that is often the ultimate line of defense...
and surprisingly effective on offense. A team without at least one engineer
is a team that will lose. We guarantee it.
The primary strength of the
engineer is his trusty sentry gun. Capable of being built on any flat
surface, placing the sentry gun is a true art form that is absolutely
punishing if you're Picasso. Before you know it, you'll be wracking up
more kills than anyone else on your team, mowing down one enemy after
another as they come into your base. Unless the enemy players take out
your sentry, they'll never get close to the flag, giving your teammates
plenty of time to capture theirs.
