@eliebaz: I believe that Squareenix since the acquisition of Enix has tried to pave its way towards a corporate culture, no longer thinking as game dev but a corporation, in a business perspective that's a great path, but as game dev and people who wants to make great games this culture becomes a obstacle rather than an improvement on development workflow and creative freedoms also the eminent fleeing of key creative people and it does show on their recent releases...
We're going to have to wait until January for more information on the Fabula Nova Crystallis games.
Square Enix is known for giving us elaborate trailers so that we can stare in awe and wonder what the game is going to be about. Unfortunately, this year at the 2010 Tokyo Game Show, the trailer for Final Fantasy Agito XIII lasted only several seconds, giving us quick glimpses of a few fights and some landscapes.
It does appear that the cast in the game are a bunch of students, as we saw a young schoolgirl in a noticeably short skirt wielding a giant hammer. The gameplay appears to be action oriented, with a targeting system similar to that in Crisis Core. Even if we could understand Japanese, the trailer was over so fast that all we could make out was that there will be some giant mechanical foes as well as chocobos to ride on.
At the end of the series of painfully short trailers, which included images for Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Square Enix revealed that a Fabula Nova Crystallis conference will be held January 11, 2011, so we can assume all the information is being saved until then.
@hellpolice i agree with you, square enix has lost its magic, it takes far too long to create games that i was so eager to play. They have driven people crazy waiting, me personally am a fan of the kingdom hearts series which i must admit has dragged the story out to such a wide perspective, also ive been waiting for 5 years already for a proper game on a proper system :(
Hmm this game been on the radar for almost 5 years and not release date and I agree with soulquicncy and GravityD...squareenix no longer hold the throne as the great jrpg maker that it once was. My attention now is for a localization of The Last Story.
Maybe SE should think about going back to basics, for I agree with GravityD that the series has slowly been going down hill since FFX. FF7 and FF9 those are perfect examples of what a Final Fantasy should be like.
I guess this is cool to newer FF fans. I don't know if I'm the only older FF fan who thinks the series went to garbage around FFX, and especially when Hironubu Sakaguchi left. It's sad though, they're just going to squeeze everything they can from FF and DQ. Crisis Core was decent, and Dissidia was alright, but I'm actually curious about Hironobu's game for the WII, the Last Story. Funny it's the named The Last Story, since he also created the Final Fantasy. Makes me wonder now if The Last Story will really be the last, or will it be made X times, and then abandoned and made 3 more times by someone else.
Oh dam i sooo can't wait for this game to come out. It'll prolly be out maybe june for english version?
I agree with LeonsKnnedy. FF13 was a bummer and square keeps their fans waiting. All the FF fans here hope that agito will be released soon and i hope it's a great one
I don't know if im going crazy but don't you guys hate that square enix spend 5 year to develop a game? and just show us 2 trailers and keep moving things so we have to wait more for knowing about a stupid game?!, im a fan of this series, i really love FF and i want to play it but jeez at least show some love to the fans...(and their last games are not that good, so with more reason please us!!!!!!!!)
I honestly can't wait for this game to come out between this and doudeciem idk which one I want more
final fantasy ftw! 1st ff game i played was VII, ive been hooked on it ever since, i have all of them except 1, 4, 6, and 14, cant wait for this! also cant wait for duodecim 012 :D where do they get these names?
I am a huge Final Fantasy fan/gamer and FFXIII is a prime example of the genre catering to flashy eye-candy than letting you progress the story instead of just trying to get to the next cut-scene. It lacked so much depth and I was sorely dissapointed. I felt much the same when Spirits Within movie was made. It felt so - not - Final Fantasy. No's VII and IX are still a big favorite. XII was a new 3D presentation of the old side battle formula, which took a little bit to get into and appreciate but now I kinda like it more than just simple turn-based. I hope this PSP version fares better. Much better.
I don't mind waiting for the games if it means they will be good quality. What bothers me is waiting for information about them. We better get some good info after Jan 11th or else... or else... or else I guess we'll just wait some more... but I'll be mad!
hoping it'll be available to PSP go owners. Square definitely hasn't shown too much interest in PSN releases so far :(
I wasn't too excited, but if it plays like Crisis Core (with a good story to boot), I could go for that.
The TGS videos are on YouTube. Unfortunately, SquareEnix has been pulling them down at a rate faster than most corporate lawyers would dream of. LOL and no...i am not kidding.
Vrygar777 It's just a variation in personaliy's which make FF games unique FFVIII was SLY and kl, and FFXIII was Dramatic, it's all good people! :D
@Boozer11 FF13 was a bit silly. The dialogue was way to melodramatic. "Wah! I don't wanna be a l'cie :(" lol. Hopefully Agito 13 is a bit more.....better?
ergggh!!! this is just killing me! I cant wait any longer for Agito 13 QQ I hope this comes out soon
I'm not too excited for Agito but Versus looks good. I just hope they aren't like FFXIII with the overly emotional dialogue every fifteen minutes.
Well in my oppinion SQEX makes some amazing games. I'd rather have them take their time on a game to make it shine than quickly slab together a project and release it. I am really looking forward to Agito and I hope it becomes one of the best Final Fantasy games fans will come to recognize.
Well perhaps I retract my statement about them being generic but they're still nothing like what they used to be.
@Boozer11 I'm pretty sure Final Fantasy can't be generic. It's a series that shaped every RPG game made since. The fact that the series is moving away from its roots is the problem with the Final Fantasy games past ten. Square has yet to really figure out what they want to do with their current gen RPGs.
It's been a painfully long wait for Agito and Versus. I hope we do get some solid info about both of them during the Fabula Nova Crystallis meet in Jan.
Just saw the trailer from finalfantasy-xiii.net... Painfully short trailers for both VS and Agito XIII. About 30 seconds each.
Square hasn't made a good game since final fantasy X. I mean I guess there ok but they've gotten rather generic
