-Crisis Core gameplay (but multiple party members) -Looks to be a different story from Final Fantasy XIII Can't wait for this or Final Fantasy XIII (my reason to get an xbox or ps3)
Don't be agitated: Square Enix showed off a brief teaser of its upcoming role-playing game for the PSP.
TOKYO--More CGI goodness was on display today at Square Enix's remarkably dark Mega Theater on the TGS show floor. All three Final Fantasy XIII games were represented by trailers, including the PSP iteration, Final Fantasy Agito XIII. The trailer was remarkably similar to the one we'd already seen earlier this year, but in case we missed a detail or two, we thought we'd bring you a quick look at yet another promising game in the famed Final Fantasy series.
The trailer begins by showing us an enormous crystal lighting up as the famous Final Fantasy arpeggios set the stage for the coming drama. We then see imagery that is bound to give most viewers a chill: a Hitler-esque leader stands on a dais, calling out propaganda in a commanding speech to the legions of apparent soldiers ready to cater to his every wish. The placement of the leader and his subjects, as well as the scratchy, black-and-white visual style, hark back to the heyday of the Nazi regime, and it's chilling to see such imagery, even today.
In an even-more chilling twist, the buildings lining the street around the soldiers transform and then fly into the air. They are, in fact, enormous battleships, and they fly across the sky en masse, a terrifying sight to a peaceful nation. The view then changes, and we see a tall, thin spire rising into the air. The camera moves downward toward the crystal that we saw at the beginning of the trailer. The crystal cracks and shatters, and the camera pulls away to reveal its island residence. The entire isle then explodes, perhaps taking all of its residents with it.
But maybe there is a survivor after all. From chaos, a shrouded figure emerges and is soon surrounded by the regimented troops so ready to commit to their apparently evil cause. The troops aim, but our hero isn't a single renegade after all. As the camera rotates, we see that more caped silhouettes join the lone rebel, until there are a dozen or even more. The trailer also cut to something that we didn't see in many of the other trailers in Square Enix's shadowed theater: gameplay footage. Although there wasn't much, we did see that the game will let you command a party of four, and based on that footage, it seems that each party member is assigned one of the four face buttons.
And in a final gasp, the trailer informed us that Final Fantasy Agito XIII will be released for the PSP, but it indicated no release date. Of course, we'd rather show you the footage than describe it, but for now, it seems that there is plenty to look forward to where Agito XIII is concerned, and indeed, for all of the upcoming games in that crystal-themed collection. Keep your eyes open: We'll bring you more news as it becomes available.
Just started playing Final Fantasy Crisis Core, after many years of hearing people rave about the series I wanted to see what it was all about. I am now hooked on the game and wished I had played it for PS2, but my taste in games was different back in my 13-16 age. Now I can appreciate alot more games these days being a bit older(19) and all.
sadly theres a Long wait on this. tho my best guess is that itll drop in NA by summer of 2010 around the time 13 drops for the ps3/360but i think i heard verses 13 is also due out around the same time as 13 but that was jus speculation as far as i know
if this is actually going to come out (don't know if it will come out) the gamespot people need to get another go at it this preview is about a year old.
Looks silly (ANOTHER rpg with an evil government bent on world domination), but there's a lot to be said for high production values and I'm sure this will be enjoyable, if ultimately forgettable. Also, Gamespot? Buildings that turn into mecha aren't exactly chilling. At all. >_>
is final fantasy agito XIII will be english or JPN version? i hope the 1st release will be in english
To Mac83 The trinity of FFXIII games will all be seperate just set in the same universe. They may not even have any link to eachother. There will be Final Fantasy XIII with the same play style as FFXII. Final Fantasy XIII Versus will be an action rpg. think of Kingdom Hearts and FF:DoC when i say this. Then there will be FF XIII Agito. Theoretically it is to be a prequel but no one is 100% certain of this. Also "Fabula Nova Crystallis" means "the New Tale of the Crystal" Enjoy. Sidenote: They are supposedly not linked yet Agito is to be a prequel. So the information on that is a bit skewered. ~Kolewan~
wow!!!! now this is a good one. Been very busy with Crisis Core in the past 6 months but this. For sure it'll be one of my favorite games in the PSP aside from Parasite Eve. --------------------------------------------------- www.gamerslinc.com
WTF is with the girl she looks like Lars of Tekken wearing some kind of jap. school uniform for girls lol
will this be a different game to the iterations on the other consoles or just a direct port?? Will there be 3 seperate FF XIII games or just one on different consoles?? I hope for the first option!
Awesome! I just got my import copy of Dissidia in the mail and it rocks too. It seems that SquareEnix really knows how to bring Final Fantasy to the portables... both PSP and DS!
Well might aswell get it cuz there's mostly no final fantasy games that i've seen that were awful yet. And yay , its hard to find action packed psp games now a days. Thnx squarenix FF = win
By those pics they should have called it "Final Fantasy: CSR (Catholic School Rage)" Or how about "Final Fantasy: CCB (Catholic School Blondies)" "Final Fantasy: RotBGC (Revenge of the Bagpipe Crew)" Who designed those god-awful costumes! i hope those are just NPC - or at least let us change clothes on those gonnies kids!
There's like three FF13's or some crap now... PSP, and 2 on PS3. Hey! When they release 14 they need a psp title called "FF14: Super Ultra fun time!" Why not!? Huh!? And then, they can go ahead and make a third and fourth of that "FF14:SUFT3-the remake/prequel" Psssh, SE has lost all sense of direction and focus, they're everywhere now like an infection. After Hironobu Sakaguchi left (writer and pretty much creator/savior of the Ff titles and SquareSoft) this developer has gone down the toilet...
it looks cool & im waiting to be a success because now is very hard to find good RPG games...by the way when squareenix will release a re-masterized version of FFVII(PSX) for the PSP...
Hope this comes to be a great game, at least with good customizations... cuz now days some games feel just too linear. And for all of those pirated PSP gamers... screw U ALL parasites >_>
i really want a PSP now. I'm going to the US for a holiday with my friends so i'll see if i can get my hands on one of those hot Red God of War ones.
