Famitsu review 40/40 We have confirmed FF13-2 will be the best FF game

"FFXIII-2 only sold 524,000 units in Japan and only 10,000 on 360"

Yeah you know what? To be honest, this doesn't mean a damn thing.


There is barely 1.8 million 360 owners in Japan, so just under 2 million. Guarantee that basically every last one of them own a PS3, and that's plainly a simple fact. Since the 360 owners already own a PS3 in Japan at least, expecting them to buy the game for 360 is like expecting a Zebra to be born with polka-dots.


They are never going to buy the 360 version over the PS3, unless it has some really secret exclusive hentai-weapon or something, So 20,000 copies or less would be expected for the 360, those are good sales considering how dead consoles are.


Secondly, its more than obvious most of the fanbase in Japan did not wind up too thrilled with FFXIII as it faced a very mixed reception there. If they're still playing the first game, they may not have any interest in trying to afford a sequel.

If they barely cared for the first game, Square can be guaranteed they've never tried the sequel. So these sales tell a really biased, and POOR picture of anything I say.

Again, EXPECTED sales for 360 in Japan would probably be quite a bit higher if say the FF game or an FF spinoff was exclusive to 360. Star Ocean 4 sold over 200,000 copies in Japan, that is in Japan alone, so I would imagine those sales would be much higher and/or the 360 would hit around 28,000 units that week if such was the case.

Those type of factors tell a much more relevant picture that actually adds up. Final Fantasy 13 is and was not their favorite game in Japan, but if thousands more play it and see it corrected the problems...Sales will obviously spike upward to be more balanced. Particularly if the extras square puts out are worth it.

800,000 LTD would not be surprising for FF13-2 in Japan, as long as the game is balanced. With the garbage plot-twists they put in this game, it was no shock at all its sales were not too high the first 3 days and that's a fact.

A much fuller, realistic picture will be told once the game is released everywhere and the same thing is true for Versus 13. This means nothing. On top of that, Final Fantasy 13 was the most different game in the franchise - Just as many loved it or felt indifferent.
