Is there anyway to fight the Giant fal'Cie?

Is there anyway to fight the Giant fal'Cie in the lowerwords? I know he is not part of any of the missions, but is there a way to reach him and fight him? Seems weird just having him there walking around...

He interacts with you during a certain set of mission, and yes, he talks. But you can't fight him.
