This is the nuke that the last boss on ch.9 uses. How do you survive this move? I survived it once with Lightning at full health (~1000 hp) but not always do I survive it. Does protect or shell weaken it?

Hint: Having a Sentinel in your party decreases all damage taken for the whole party. It's not a lot at the role level your Sentinel will have there, but it helps.

This question being asked a lot today, don't defend through this attack, you want to push through it, make sure everyone is in good health, then go all offensive with your whole party, if you do enough damage you will break through causing it to do less damage and giving you more time to stagger.

thanks I don't see how anyone would know that would happen w/o trial and error. Usually if I see a big attack coming I try to prepare for it, not wail on the enemy, lol. oh well no biggie.

Yup! you should plenty of time to heal to green, and stagger him before he using the attack

Get his stagger bar as high as possible. Wait until he groans (then you know the attack will be weaker) and keep pumeling.

a little tip that helped me through every time...first get your sentinal ready like others said...make sure your at full HP with your buffs up (not sure it helps but you got plenty of time XD) now heres the differance...before the battle equip that item that boosts your potions ready a potion and as soon as the attack fires use it...the attack will hit before the potion takes effect and itll heal you WHILE you take damage XD
that method worked every time for me ^,.,^

Here's what I did:
-Equip all HP+ accessories
-When you see him charging Destrudo, switch to (MED/COM/SYN)
-When you are at full HP and buffed...switch to (RAV/COM/MED)
-Have Lightning ready to use a potion immediately afterwards as Hope heals too...sometimes I use 2 potions, you'll be back to full HP within 2 turns.

When he's charging heal up fast and then go all out with COM/RAV/RAV or COM/COM/RAV. You have to push the Stagger bar as far as possible or it'll be hard to Stagger him after the attack. Just heal up and keep attacking.

You really don't have to do anything special in this fight at all, other than immediately react to Destrudo by healing up and switching to Relentless Assault. Approximately 1,000 HP per team member is fine, and should leave you with about 250 HP after weakened Destrudo. You don't need a Sentinel.
I'm not sure if Shell does anything. I had Shell up for my entire fight (second fight... I lost the first one), due to all the -ga spells in use by the boss and its helpers. It's not hard to keep Shell up the whole time, so you might as well.
Basically, I did this with Lightning, Hope and Vanille:
* [Librascope]
* Relentless Assault (whenever possible; when fully healed during Destrudo charge)
* Evened Odds (as needed; delay first use, so Hope can Dispel enemy buffs)
* Diversity (as needed; use at start of Destrudo)
* Salvation (briefly, right after Destrudo)
I only got two stars, though. I was definitely playing it safe on this one. Kudos to anyone who can get five stars on this fight — you must have some awesome weapons and gear.
