Just beat lunatic mode...but lunatic PLUS???

Hi everyone, I just beat lunatic // classic mode on my first playthrough just cause I thought it would be badass to brag to all my friends that I beat it on the hardest difficulty. Imagine my surprise when a little window pops up on the screen saying that I unlocked lunatic PLUS mode. Boy did I feel like an ass. Lunatic mode was challenging enough, I mean seriously, you could grind all you wanted, and it seemed like at MOST, you would be on equal terms with the enemy. Does anyone out there have any insight on to how hard lunatic PLUS is? I looked around a bit for information regarding lunatic plus, but I couldn't find anything even referring to it's existence EXCEPT a list of all the fire emblem skills (I have this website that shows all the skills for all classes, and next to one enemy-specific skill it says "only on lunatic +"). So far I know that nothing carries over to lunatic mode except your renown. I'm just too scared to jump into it right now without some prior preparation for what I'm about to get into.

    So...anyone? Anything? Anything at all?

I haven't played it myself but I've read up enough about it to weigh in I think. The general consensus is it is "masochism-the game" what with the randomly distributed ridiculous skills like luna+ and vantage+ and other nonsense. It is incredibly RNG dependent on whether you get screwed or not, or perhaps a better way to say it would be as to how screwed you are is RNG dependent, ranging from "maybe I can beat this level and only lose half my forces" to "Enemy Phase 1-All units wiped out". If you have both the insanity and nerve to try it be ready to reset a lot just to stand a chance at being able to survive the chapters. Good luck and may your sanity be spared if you decide to try it

Yeah I've been playing lunatic plus // classic and man have I cried. I JUST beat chapter 3 by playing ring-around-the-rosie with an entire army and it is definitely luck based. Sorry for sounding like a complete noob, but can someone explain to me what RNG is? Also, do you think that the stats I get from leveling up will be a huge factor?

OMG, I Just realized now that I beat chapter 3, wireless features have been unlocked!!! I still can't grind in the DLC, BUT!!! Theoretically, I should be able to get someone to make a really strong character with no equips and street pass me! At this point, ANY way to beat lunatic PLUS is fair game right? Then again, maybe I can still make it to the DLC chapter on my own. Can anyone confirm whether I need to beat chapter 4 or chapter 5 to unlock the DLC chapter?

Actually with enough grinding and correct choice of skills, Nah + manakete Morgan (MU + Nah) paired up with anything will pretty much solo the entire game for lunatic mode. (after you get them of course) Add in MU as a sorc with vantage, zeal, gamble, wrath, and vengeance and story mode is pretty much a cakewalk. Lunatic+, however, levels the playing field with ridiculous skills like hawkeye and luna+

you only get 1 exp per streetpass kill and stats scale really high in lunatic/lunatic+, meaning you won't even be able to deal damage. I thought of this too, but it didn't work. Just go and beat chapter 4 for DLC levels and try to farm 1 or 2 enemies per run of golden gaffe

I'm currently on chapter 6 of lunatic+ classic mode and the first 4 chapters were pure torture

Actually, I wasn't planning on using streetpass to grind. You see, 2 things carry carry over from your old saves; your Renown, and your Avatar Logbook. When you create a new game, you get renown equal to the highest renown among your save files at that point in time. So after beating the first 3 chapters, you have access to your Renown Awards. I claimed all the Renown prizes I was elgible for, SOLD every item, built up to around 30,000 gold, BOUGHT an avatar from my logbook that was JUST strong enough to SOLO chapter 4, and after chapter 4 I had access to the DLC, used said avatar to grind out money, then buy all my strongest bonus avatar characters from my first save game. Now I have reunited my Lunatic+ MC with his badass future self and his entire army of capped out conquered characters from other people's streetpass.

I am currently on chapter 13 in lunatic + classic and it is AWESOME. In Lunatic +, anything is fair game.

can you explain how you were able t beat the first three chapters in classic mode cuz i beat it in lun plus casual but the only possible way was to sacrifice all my units to keep frederick alive and the fort level with so many enemies had counter I had to keep fred mu and chrom and lissa alive. In order to beat the first floor I had to go to the stairs make sure frederick doesnt attack any of the enemies with counter and use my avatar to kill all the enemies.
I dont understand how you can possibly beat that mode in classic unless you hacked

Sure thing kenny, I'd be glad to help! I'll try to be as specific as possible.

There are quite a few huge factors that you need to pay attention to before even ATTEMPTING chapter 3 on lunatic plus. Make SURE Frederick has enough speed to hit everything twice by now (it helps if you've ony been pairing him with chrom and have him at level C support or higher by now). If not, start over and pray that the RNG treats you nicely before you reach chapter 3. Make sure frederick has at least 1 or 2 elixirs, an iron sword, and an iron spear. Assuming you have enough speed on frederick, pay attention to the following enemies.

    1. The Boss Raimi: That hulking she-beast of a knight is one tough customer, but at the very least she doesn't move around. If she has the ability COUNTER, the ONLY WAY TO BEAT HER is to defeat the hammer wielding minion near her and grab the hammer. If the hammer-wielder has the ability COUNTER or HAWKEYE, then it's pretty much impossible to win unless you picked up a really nice weapon off the sparkling floors by now like Alm's blade, which is really unlikely. If the hammer wielder has luna+, it isn't impossible to kill him, just hope you get lucky and dodge the hammer strike. Of course, you don't NEED the hammer if she doesn't have COUNTER. If she has PAVISE, you DEFINITELY need the hammer. Keep resetting until Raimi doesn't cheat so much with her skills (a good possible combination would be something like hawkeye+luna+pass)

    2. Assuming that Raimi does not have counter and/or it is possible to defeat the hammer wielder, pay attention to the doors you need to unlock. On the other side of each door, a knight stands guard. If BOTH knights have counter, just give up, you can't beat them. If either knight has a combination of HAWKEYE + LUNA, it SHOULD still be possible to beat them if they DON'T have PAVISE. You must be able to kill ONE of these knights (preferrably both) in order to beat this level. Otherwise, keep resetting your game until all the units meet my conditions.

    3. Finally, the hardest condition of all, pay attention to the 2 armies at the bottom of the stage, a small squadron in each corner. If more than 1 CLOSE COMBAT enemy is in the left corner, then you can't win. If more than 1 CLOSE COMBAT enemy is in the right corner, you cannot win. Okay, I'm fairly certain I listed all the conditions I looked out for in order to beat this level, so now I'm going to tell you some ways to beat it. Just remember, you DO HAVE TO GET LUCKY. And I mean REALLY LUCKY. I literally cried over the number of times I had to reset to get a good set up. Even when you have a good set up, it's never a sure thing. You will need 3 units:
    1) Chrom (because you're forced to, duh)
    2) Frederick (because he's the only one that can do anything, duh)
    3) Lissa (because she's your only healer)
    4) Sully/stahl (you need someone to carry kellam around)

    THE FIRST TURN: PREPARATION
Both sides will not attack until you step in a red zone (press X to see the red zone where enemies can attack you), so make sure you don't screw up your first turn. If you look at kellam, you can see that he's about to stupidly rush the enemy. We need Kellam not just because he's the only other character that can take a hit, but because he has a set of javelins on him, which we need to transfer to Frederick IMMEDIATELY. So bring Chrom over to Kellam, Talk to kellam, Pair up Chrom with Kellam, move Kellam back to the safe zone (preferrably next to frederick) give the Javelin to Frederick, then transfer Chrom over to Frederick so Freddie can get his speed boost, then pair up Kellam with Sully or Stahl. Then, pair up Lissa with Sumia. It is possible to do this in one turn if you positioned everyone correctly before you started the fight, but it doesn't matter. Take as many turns as you need to get this set up, just make sure you don't provoke the Enemy AI into attacking you. Once you're ready, it's time for Frederick to charge into battle with only his Javelin in hand.

    THE SECOND TURN: TO BATTLE
Choose whether to mount your assault on the bottom left squad or the bottom right squad first. Unlike Lunatic Normal mode, the moment you step in the red zone, BOTH ARMIES will attack you, so you have little time to execute what I'm about to tell you. If an archer has COUNTER on him, ignore him because he's not gonna attack you up close. But if a CLOSE COMBAT character has counter, try to take him out first. Make sure the rest of your army is still in the safe zone and get ready to make them run.

On the enemies turn, if all goes well, Frederick would have survived and had taken out at least half of the enemy forces in one corner.

THE THIRD TURN: THE BATTLE CONTINUES
If frederick is low on health, go ahead and drink an elixir (hopefully you have at least 2, but it's okay if you only have 1 left). This is your LAST TURN before the enemies in the opposite corner catch up to your weakling units. MAKE SURE THE REST OF YOUR ARMY IS IN A SAFE ZONE.

On the enemies turn, if all goes well, Frederick would have survived and killed all the enemies in one corner of the map. If there is one enemy left, that's fine too, just kill him on the next turn. But hopefully Frederick killed everyone.

THE FOURTH TURN: THE SECOND WAVE
Kudos to you if you have made it this far. But get ready, because the other army on the other side draws near. Quickly make your weakling units run towards the door on your side (by pairing up with Sully/stahl and Sumia, it should be easier to move around). Basically you wanna squish them into that safe little entrance while Frederick fights the next wave. When Sully/Stahl is in position, switch to Kellam in case someone gets close enough to attack. Kellam must guard Lissa with his life!!! Without...dying...of course. Position Frederick in one of the trees and wait for the enemy to come to you. The trees should increase his chances of surviving the oncoming attack GREATLY.

If all goes well during the next few turns, Everyone would have survived and Frederick would succeed in clearing the first half of the map. Also, by now your Javelin is either broken or useless, but you still have your iron sword and iron spear. Have Lissa heal Frederick's wounds and Kella's if he got hurt. You should also have 2 door keys by now (remember you can access your convoy with chrom if you deposited your key there)

    Now we consider our options...

Remember those conditions I listed earlier? Let's take a look at the 2nd condition. If BOTH KNIGHTS are able to be easily dispatched of with your IRON SPEAR, carefully unlock each door one at a time and kill each guard. Be careful where you position your weaker units, because the Knights might have the ability PASS, and go through Frederick to kill Lissa. Once both knights are dead, make sure lissa heals Good old Fred. If you NEED or WANT the hammer and it is possible to kill the hammer wielding unit without getting killed by him or his buddies, you can attempt this by moving Frederick to the stairs on the top right corner. On the enemies turn, some units will attack Fred and hopefully get themselves killed (having frederick end his turn on the stairs gives him a little defence boost and helps him survive better). On your turn, move down to the narrow entrance that you used a door key on to funnel the enemies one by one until you get the Hammer. Once you get the Hammer, either take your chances and kill everyone else, or get the **** out of there and play Ring around the Rosie with everyone by running across the bottom path in a circle. You can use everyones superior movement to stay ahead of the enemies if your careful. After leading them on a careful and wild goose chase, you can isolate Raimi have have 2 or 3 turns to kill her, with or without the hammer.

If ONLY THE LEFT KNIGHT is able to be killed, that makes things a lot harder, because now it is nearly impossible to get the HAMMER. Hopefully this is not the case, because if it is, you most likely have to kill EVERYONE on the upper half just to get the hammer, and I found that to be extremely hard to do. Hopefully you don't need the hammer though. Basically, just unlock the left door, kill the left knight, unlock the right door WITH YOUR WEAPON UN EQUIPPED, and have everyone lead all the enemies chase you through the bottom of the map with your superior movement. Be careful though, make sure you don't run TOO far ahead or they'll do a little pincer formation on you. Hopefully, you can isolate Raimi and kill her within 2 or 3 turns before the rest of the army catches up. Don't forget to have Lissa heal Frederick while you run away. If ONLY THE RIGHT KNIGHT is able to be killed, you still have a good chance, as this makes it EASIER to nab the hammer and survive. Unlock the right door, kill the knight on the right side. Again, grab the hammer if you can, otherwise lead them on a wild goose chase in order to get them to leave Raimi's side. Once again, if you don't think you need the hammer, it's not worth risking your life for it.

Hopefully this helps man. I'm not sure how clear all of this is since it's only from memory, but I'd like to think I did a pretty good job describing the details since I had to reset so many times...

If you're still unclear on something, feel free to ask.

Oh yeah, just to be clear I had Frederick do EVERYTHING with Chrom as his partner for the first 3 chapters. And I mean EVERYTHING.

k thx man but for me it was impossible to win using chrom and frederick especially chapter 2 the only way I was able to win was to use my other units to dps and be used as meat shields to prevent fred from dieing it jsut seemed impossible to do in classic mode and for chapter 3 the knights had moves like counter and pass I had to make sure fred wasnt using anything and my 2 units filled the empty slots on the stairs where my avatar would kill them but I didnt know you could get kellam out of danger and then set up all your units in the safe zone before starting it lol
