Hey guys. I'm just looking for a good rpg that will be good for a beginning with rpgs more or less. Since, psp tends to have a lot and I'm a noob with rpgs I was wondering what would be a good game to buy. I was thinking maybe Brave Story New Traveler or one of the Monster Hunter games or really anything good to start off with.

    Check out Persona 3 Portable.

Hey, I'm interested in playing a DJ MAX game, but I've heard they're crazy hard...is there any particular game in the series that's more accessible to someone who isn't amazing at rhythm games? Any other good Asian rhythm game you can recommend is fine too.

I've found DJ Max Portable 3 is alright for the average rhythm gamer, as it progresses slowly but surely, taking you from easy first songs to their "HD" versions as the game progresses. A big change from the previous games for difficulty, but you will have trouble with 6-note songs, it's quite a change from the rest of the game. I still can't get past any stage two songs except one in that mode.

Thanks man, I'll go with that one.

I just want to say--again--something I have said many, many times before: Dispel the notion that a game starts at a 10, and gets points "docked" from it. That would be a really silly way to review a game.

Game reviews aren't mathematical logarithms. They are the result of an experience that makes an impression on the mental and emotional superhighway of the game reviewer. I don't have a spreadheet that starts with a 10 and has calculations built in, where "low frame rate" = a .25 hit to the score. It doesn't work that way, and thank God for that.

Origins isn't too bad, but it tends to let you hear the monster's sounds long before they reach you.

I think your best bet would be Resident Evil or Silent Hill from the PS1 off the PlayStation Store. Both are often rated as some of the most scary games of all time, and the other Silent Hill PSP titles both are good, but not exactly scary.

    Good games that I've found:

    MediEvil: Resurrection
    Final Fantasy I + II
Capcom Classics Collection Reloaded + Remixed
    Monster Hunter Freedom 2
    Fat Princess: Fistful of Cake
    Monsters Deluxe

I'm sure there's many more good games for PSP, but I generally don't buy games until they're under $20.00

Its been about 4 years sense I have used this forum (PSP in general) due to my first PSP getting stolen :_:, anyway I'm back in the PSP world sort of haha.

Anyway I'm looking to feed my need for an RPG, considering I have an X-box 360 I have hardly seen any RPGs on it that really jump out to me mostly because I don't like the new setting in RPGs where you only really control the actions of one player and the rest of the party is AI driven or driven by preset actions you set up. I'm looking for turn based team fights (like FF7,FF8 ) that aren't really played out in real time. I have browsed a few of the RPGs on the PSP but really I never like listening to reviews I'd rather here from gamers. I have crisis core and I'm not enjoying it that much lol really burned out on FF7, I just like the early FF battle system.

    Any suggestions ?

Sounds like Persona 3 Portable is perfect. It's turn-based, and you can take control of each character(something exclusive to the PSP version of P3).

Valkeryia Chronicles is good, but I wouldn't go for it if you're looking for traditional turn-based(Final Fantasy-style) combat. It's more of a turn-based strategy with real-time elements.

I didn't like the awful voice acting or the rather lackluster animation. It shines in gameplay, but fails where presentation is concerned in my opinion. Not to bash your opinion Rubedisky, just stating mine. Valkyria Chronicles is very popular in general.

On the other hand, Persona 3 is great in almost every way, the only negative point that I have is that the dungeons themselves are very repetitive, as are the enemies, which would kill the game were the combat not so fun.

So I got a new PSP because I wanted to play some PS1 games on it, and I've set it up for a US account (even though im in europe, sort of dodgy but I'm sorry the UK PS Store is absolutely terrible for PS1 games) and got a US points card. I know of a few games I want for sure (MGS, Resi 2, Legacy of Kain), but anyone got any recommendations for stuff? Also, which Spyro and which Crash games are the best?

valkyria chronicles 2 has a bad story line with an awful main character. I am sure valkryria chroncles 3 will be much better in everything. It'll be more like valkyria chronicles 1 .
