I'm truly absolutely fed up with this ****. So I just opened my Dragon Age: Origins, which was brand new, and it had a code for a downloadable quest and character that's a "15 dollar value". I'm like, cool, but then I see that the code expired April of last year. So let me get this straight... you have DLC that's available at the same time you put a game out, and then you put an expiration date on it so that anyone who buys the game after it expires has to pay 15 ***ing bucks if they still want it? Why the **** wasn't that content on the ****ing disc?! This is the kind of **** that puts me off DLC. Publishers like EA purposefully hold things back from games so they can charge money for them later, and these stupid ass gamers are eating it up!

Sorry for the rant... I already made a blog and didn't feel like making another right after. So anyway, are you sick of DLC or what?

Do not invite me to your union. Doing so will get you ignored.

Technically I think the content is on the disc. The downloads are probably just an unlock key. But yeah, I am. It's one of things that turned me off to MVC3, as a few characters (Jill and Shuma off the top of my head) are day one DLC. In a fighting game, having the roster split like that is pretty awful. Then you have the Dragon Age 2 DLC that could only be obtained with a reserve, and that expired just this month, so anyone else who buys it reserve or otherwise has to pay extra. DLC as is sucks, but the tie ins to reserves and specific retailers, is just silly. Some of these games you would have to buy it from three retailers to get all the content.

But it's not all bad. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is getting two expansions in the next month or so. Reverie, (which adds on to the already lengthy main game) and Resurrection. Which actually follows the prologue and gives you a possible look at how the sequel will play. But this kind of DLC, that isn't available at launch and adds to an already full and satisfying game, is pretty freaking rare.

If it is on the disc already, then yea, it sucks. If it's something that actually expands and improves upon the game like Bethesda's DLC then I don't mind. Just depends the situation. What EA is doing with Dead Space is pretty bad though. Charging for weapon upgrades and such. It's like paying for a win button. Stupid. But the DLC coming for it which is an expansion of the game I am all for.
