    AC III Wii U Confirmed

    PS Vita Confirmed

    Assassin's Creed III Box Art

That being said, this is officially the Assassin's Creed III thread. We have a LONG WAY to go, but I'm sure that news of the game will be expected to come out in the months to come. This is the one thread where all of you will be able to talk anything and everything AC III. So if you hear news about the gameplay features, characters, etc, please let us know. I will do my best to update you all on the game as the news continue to stroll in, so please let me know. So thank you and have fun discussing Assassin's Creed 3! SO STOKED!

The game is now officially confirmed to be set in Colonial Times, as in during the American Revolution. More details of the game will be unveiled March 5th, at 5 P.M. PT (Pacific Time), along with pre-order bonuses. If you know the information and I don't at an early time, post it in here and I'll update it. Thank you!

Some new details from the Game Informer April 2012 issue have emerged. According to this link, this is what the game will offer this time around...

We have a ton of details on Assassin's Creed III for you courtesy of Game Informer, and it looks like this is shaping up to be the best Assassin's Creed yet.

The goal of the development team was to stay true to the franchise, and try something new with the game as well. That's obvious, since this is a mainline Assassin's Creed game.

    - There will be brand new environments and all-new ways to exploit them to your advantage, according to the creative director Alex Hutchinson.

    - The cinematic presentations will extend beyond combat into a complex way of storytelling. The game will have actually have the Mohawk language (Iroquois) in some scenes. Mohawk was one of the languages of the native Americans.

    - The development cycle was the longest compared to any Assassin's Creed game. It seems the game was developed simultaneously with the other spin-offs (Brotherhood and Revelations). According to Ubisoft's CEO, AC3 has been in development for three years.

    - The game tells a story of Templars vs Americans. It's not about winning the war, but a story based on the main protagonist's life.

    - The game will feature a new camera, which focuses on the best possible view of the action.

    - The game runs on a brand new version of the Anvil engine.

    - The new Assassin is the son of a Native American woman and a British soldier. He calls himself Connor, but his birth name is Ratohnhaké:ton. Born into the Mohawk, he eventually crosses paths with the Assassins in his search for righteousness.

    - Connor is quiet and stoic, letting actions speak for himself rather than conversing with others. In contrast to Ezio, Connor is a freedom fighter who acts in the name of justice rather than on personal revenge.

    - Settings will include Boston, New York and a large countryside. The countryside will be the setting of about 1/3 of the game, and will be the location of many events during the game. The countryside will be about 1.5 times as big as Rome in Brotherhood.

    - The protagonist will fight on the American side, with primary allies being George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and Charles Lee. However, this does not mean that the Americans are the good guys and the British are the bad guys. Templars are everywhere.

    - There will be seasons in the game, meaning that the sun will shine during summer and the landscape will be covered in snow during winter. This is the best new feature in Assassin's Creed 3 as far as I'm concerned.

    - You can chain kills in the game using the tomahawk and the knife.

    - Fighting and stealth will be completely re-innovated, with Connor being compared to a "predator". The player will be able to climb trees and other natural elements, and dual-wielding weapons such as a dagger and a mohawk is now also an option.

    - Animals will be present in the woods, like deer and bears. The player will be able to kill them and pelt their skins, to sell them later with the reformed economic system of the game.

    - There will be puzzles similar to The Truth, only they will not be given by Subject 16.

    - Desmond will go into the new Animus 3.0 and will find himself going into "significant events".

    - 100% sync in memories returns, though this time you will be rewarded when you complete memories to 100%. Checkpoints will also be introduced to mission replay, meaning you don't have to replay an entire mission to get that 100% sync.

    - The Brotherhood, or the Assassin's Guild, will return in some form, albeit differently than we have seen before.

    - Human shields are in, along with context sensitive actions. The target locking is gone, so the combat dynamics have changed.

    - There is a fast travel system. The game is quite larger than Brotherhood; approximately 1.5 times bigger.

    - There will be no more Mercenaries, Thieves, Courtesans, Romani or other factions, but there will be a replacement for them.

    - Den Defense will not return.

    - Expect Uncharted level of character interactions with 2.5 hours of scenes recorded.

So far, that's what I know and what has been revealed. Pick up the April issue to discover more then what's already said, along with any future previews from any or all sites.

Yeah, if it was developed in 1 year like BH, or RE, I would've probably not been interested in the slightest.

I think it's finally about time for Desmond to assume the role as a full-time Assassin instead of being stuck in the Animus. I mean, they didn't waste all that time with him learning from his ancestor and trying out his newfound skills along the way for no reason, right? So I wouldn't be surprised if they chose him to be the main hero. At the same time, I would not mind a new protagonist to fulfill the new role, male or female. Altair and Ezio did a wonderful job in their time, so now is the perfect opportunity to step up. I just hope they bring a lot of personality and charm to make them more likeable, like how they did with Ezio, who was a much better personality than Altair did in AC I, though we got to finally know more about him briefly in ACII and in Revelations.

BS PR talk. They had hundreds of people developing Borhterhood and Revelations. Unless they hired hundreds more to develop this game on the side, it's just plain bullsh*t.

I don't know, I merely I heard someone mentioning in one of the recent assassins creed threads on this site. Personally I think desmond makes the most sense though as It's been building that direction anyway.

Yeah, if it was developed in 1 year like BH, or RE, I would've probably not been interested in the slightest.

I hear this all the time. People assume a game is made in a year just because a new iteration releases. This is dead wrong, especially for a game of AC calibur. Ubisoft is a massive developer with many teams working on different projects.

AC:BH & RE both had a 2 year development time each, with 2 different teams. AC3 has an entirely different team with a 3 year cycle. Dont mistakea games release dates for meaning they were developed in a short time. A game of that size cannot be made in one years time, no matter how many people on the project.

Right, but do you not agree that Revelations had a rushed feel permeating the entire game? Not just the terrile new mini-games, but the writing, the combat (which was glitchy) just didn't feel like any effort or polish was put into it. Not saying Revelations was bad, but you can tell it wsn't Ubi's A-Team.

If that were true, wouldn't they have released AC III a long time ago? Brotherhood and Revelations, I hate to say it, were rushed. Both had wonderful ideas in them, but they weren't given enough time to be polished as much in order to be released. I feel that Ubisoft wanted to keep people interested in the series with those two games. So while those two games DID keep us busy, all of us are awaiting AC III and what will happen next and I believe that thiree years is enough time to showcase the evolution of the series. I just hope they brought good ideas to the table, incorporated a new hero (one that's very likable), and keep the gameplay intact by bringing out more of its strengths and taking out any weaknesses the previous four games had, such as the mini-games that JBul mentioned.

lol are you that naive? They didnt release AC III back in 2010 because they want to milk the franchise. Plain and simple. They knew that people would buy it every year no matter how much they milk it, and they did. Brotherhood IS AC III because it's the third game in the franchise. They just jerked us around with the Brotherhood title implying that it's not a 'true' sequel when technically that's exactly what it was.

The thing is that Brotherhood was still a fantastic game. Which is why people didn't mind the milking too much. I haven't played Revelations yet, but i wouldn't be surprised if it was better than 90% of the games released last year. They have a great formula, a talented team and some great ideas, but at the same time Ubisoft is forcing them to make games that are unfinished and feel like beta tests for AC3.

Stuff that should've been discarded early in the design process made its way into the game in both Brotherhood and Revelations. The instant kills in Brotherhood were laughable because they made the combat way too easy. It's automatic, should've been left on the design floor. The story in Brotherhood goes absolutely nowhere. Ezio had the Apple in his pocession at the end of AC2, he loses it at the start of Brotherhood and then gets it back at the end. Why did we need to play it?

It was sad watching the Monteral boss give an interview saying that AC games are huge and need care and attention to detail that 1 year dev cycles simply cant provide. And less than a day later, Ubisoft's CEO denies that and confirms Revelations. hell, they let the creative director of the franchise go. They are hungry for your cash and nothing more.

Very much worth noting --3 Year development cycle confirmed. Good, now I'm interested.

BS PR talk. They had hundreds of people developing Borhterhood and Revelations. Unless they hired hundreds more to develop this game on the side, it's just plain bullsh*t.

If that were true, wouldn't they have released AC III a long time ago?

    [/QUOTE]

lol are you that naive?

Please be the last, I'm growing tired of this franchise and I used to love it.
