Which did you prefer? New Vegas definitely had the better gameplay, but apart from that, I preferred Fallout 3. Had a better story, characters, setting and environment.

    I preferred Fallout 3.

F:NV had a better story because it made sense. Fallout 3's story was so hole-filled, it might as well have been swiss cheese. NV was also a bit more realistic with characters and moral choices. Regardless, I prefer Fallout 3 simply because it was the funner game. I love exploring and exploring just wasn't as fun in NV.

Fallout 3 felt like more of a "do whatever the f** you like" game. I agree with the last poster on the writing, it was just inexcusably atrocious, though not entirely incredible.

Both games are fun, however if I had to pick between an RPG with decent gameplay or a dungeon-crawler with an environment so rich and interesting to explore, I'd pick the RPG.

Fallout New Vegas by far tbh,the story, quests, characters and the whole wasteland were so much more interesting than in Fallout 3,not to mention that NV also has a ton of references to the first two classic Fallout games.
