    ----------------

Since the Game Remembrance Thread has been around since July 2008 and is reaching a titanic size with 58 pages and over 1700 posts, we agreed it would be a good idea to start over with a new thread. The old one will remain available for reference here. The purpose of it remains unchanged: to find the title of those old games from the past that you just can't remember, or even a newer game you just can't put your finger onto.

In our modern stage of gaming, many of us gamers have reached a stage where we've wanted to look back on games that we played, or never got a chance to play, only to be brunt with a very dire issue... Completely forgetting what the name of the game was in the first place!

Whether its to help you find a vintage title that you want to add to your collection, or just to muster enough of a name to find that sacred Wikipedia entry to give you your nostalgia fix, the purpose of this thread will act as its own specialized venue for users to post up questions regarding a game they want to remember the name (or even other traits) of, and other users hopefully replying with answers, or at least giving more information about the games so an answer can be found (thanks to Skylock for this historic intro).

    ----------------

    How this Thread Works:

You come in and post as many details as possible about the game you're looking for, then wait until one of us comes up with the answer. It's as simple as that.

    ----------------

How to maximise your chances of finding what you're looking for:

    Follow these simple guidelines:

    1) As a general rule, be as much specific as you can, every little detail counts and may help us find what you're looking for.

    2) Specify the timeframe the game came out, at least the decade (1990s, 2000s...)

    3) Specify the platform you played the game on (which console, PC, operating system). If you're not sure, telling us which systems you owned in your gaming history narrows the field down considerably.

    4) List any distinctive qualities you can remember: what genre of game was it (FPS, RPG, Platformer...)? Was the game 2D or 3D? How did the characters look like? Was the protagonist a male or a female? Was it first person or third person? Post anything you can remember, even if it sounds insignificant.

Sticking to these ground rules will not only help others find your answer, but ensures that the first answer given is more likely to be what you are looking for.

    ----------------

    Be patient

Just because you don't receive an answer right away it doesn't mean we aren't working on it. Sometimes it takes time for someone to recognize the game you're describing, so check back whenever you see the thread has new replies, they may contain the answer to your request.

So far we have an score of over 150 resolved queries and counting, so keep asking here whenever you can't remember the title of a game and we'll do our best to find it for you.

Hi i've been poundering about a game i used to play but can't remember

    - I played it on one of the playstation 1 demo discs, so i think it was around 1995-1998

    - it was a platformer game where you could see most of the battlefield

    - it was your goal to kill the other player

    - on the demo disc you could play the game against a second player

    - the characters were human (i think) and you played against eachother on the same screen

    - i think the battlefield was dark and had a metal like surface, there were also 'jumpers' with which you could get to higher surfaces

This was an old PC game. It was moreso a multiple choice game than an outright strategy game and was entirely text based. You controlled some sort of a shaman, priest, or possibly chief of an iron age tribe. You were able to make alliances, send warriors out on quests, manage your tribe etc. The game was entirely text based and was accompanied by some fairly crudely done artwork.

Supporter of banning football from Vuvuzela concerts!

And on the seventh day, in their infinite wisdom, the mods blessed System Wars with a new TOU, and all were overcome with joy.

    sorry for the late reply

I looked at some youtube clips, and the gameplay looks similar, but i don't think it was blaster master. (i don't think it had gravity changes)

But maybe it's just too long ago to accurately say. Thanks anyway

Isn't Blaster Master an NES title? The title he recommended may be from the PSOne era, Blast Chamber? Did you check that one?

PC game from the second half of the 1990s. Gameplay is a compilation of various arcade-like genres, including racing across the screen and avoiding obstacles in the jungle, and shooting stuff as it comes at you head-first. Protagonist looks like the attached and screams with a constant deep voice almost like he's rolling Rs. Antagonist is a dark-red, monumental mace, with spikes and everything, and a handle made of rungs, and it hops around on that leg, and maybe shoots stuff from the top. This game may be low budget or international, so I understand if you can't find it.

PS the whole game is imbued with a primarily yellow color.

It is eating me ALIVE, that I cannot remember this Sega game. You start in a very small space ship/shuttle in which you control, and you floated around, and could not touch the sides of the level or they caused your ship damage. You would have to go through the level to find fuel and other materials. One of the bosses was a giant floating head, that had like a scorpion tail that came out of it's chin. As I child, the game seemed EXTREMELY difficult.

Can anyone please help me here!

    Much thanks,

    Stormus

There should be more video compilations like this - hundreds of games shown for a few seconds each, preferably with the original audio. They should be caterogized by platform genre and date, and captioned with all the details such as title and year. Chances are that if you played a game for any significant length of time, you would recognize it on sight. You would remember not only games for which you can't remember the title, you would also remember games the forgetting of which you forgot.

    0. A kind of games , somewhat like Puzzle type ... 7. Here is a picture with words about this game http://imageshack.us/f/85/discriblingtheunknownga.png/

    1. Starting with a huge square gird , we ( fish character) are "standing" on one side of a square .... 2. Initially , the sides are in black colour , we can highlight it ( the colour will be specified with the player's colour ) by moving around the four sides of a square , we can obtain scores by highlight more and more squares .....

    3. There are also some tools along the pathway , like making others square disappear , they have to make all over again
    4. And also some monster, they move all over the square grid , they are blocking the players way ..... 5. If i am not wrong , we can have a weapon , i think it can shoot down monster and player 6.This game can be multi-played ... which is very awesome 7.
