Here are some facts.
- Children with low intelligence grow up to be prejudiced
- Right-wing views make the less intelligent feel 'safe'
- Analysis of more than 15,000 people
Right-wingers tend to be less intelligent than left-wingers, and people with low childhood intelligence tend to grow up to have racist and anti-gay views, says a controversial new study.
Conservative politics work almost as a 'gateway' into prejudice against others, say the Canadian academics. The paper analysed large UK studies which compared childhood intelligence with political views in adulthood across more than 15,000 people. The authors claim that people with low intelligence gravitate towards right-wing views because they make them feel safe.
Crucially, people's educational level is not what determines whether they are racist or not - it's innate intelligence, according to the academics.

Well, there is the fact that conservatives are less open to new thought patterns.

People of lower intelligence tend to be like that too. It's hardly surprising, the lower your mental capacity, the lower the chance you'll actually stop to qiestion your views.
It does apply to other political groups too, but more conservatism, if we're talking about social conservatism.

Not buying this propaganda. I have seen Liberals just as stupid. BTW, I am a moderate that leans left on most things. I just see that both ends have valid ideas.- Please wait. Quick reply will be available shortly.

- Apr 24, 2012 1:32 am GMTAnybody could have told you this. There is no logic in being anti-gay or racist at all and it is almost always linked to religious beliefs. This is why I have an incredibly hard time respecting the intelligence of the religious because they are so blind to their own beliefs that they refuse to think for themselves and as a result have their religion think for them. They hide behind the bible and god as reasons for not wanting gay-marriage, they hide behind the bible and god when they are presented scientifical evidence that contradicts their beliefs, they hide behind the bible and god when something bad happens in their lives, do you see the pattern? These are weak minded people who are unwilling to think for themselves. Now don't get me wrong, I have no problem with people who want to believe in god, they are free to believe whatever they want, but it's the people who try and present evidence for their god, the people who tell you that you are going to burn for an enternity simply because you don't believe what they beleive, the people who are so f***cking far gone on the intelligence scale that it's not even worth trying anymore with them, those are the people I have a problem with. It just so happens that most of these people cling to the political side that conforms with their beliefs the most. The study is accurate and it's not the first study to say the same thing and is far from liberal "propaganda"

Considering most politicians in power are pretty right-wing, I'd say if they aren't as intelligent, they're certainly as cunning, if not moreso.
