I think it is something to do with those forums being hosted by gamefaqs, but gamespot has not ties to them any more.

Thanks to Brutal_Elitegs for the sig

The old system of shared boards was not good, and while there is initial pain moving to the new system while they get new boards created, it will hopefully end up with something better.

With shared boards, if you posted something from your Gamespot account you could not go back to edit it later - a pain if you ever wanted to do a useful thread and keep important info in the first post. There also used to be issues with posting links and images that those using Gamespot would see fine, but those using GameFAQ would not see - often due to their preference settings on GameFAQ. You could post from your GS account, but be modded by a GF moderator - ended up with people being unable to post on boards but with no idea why since messages didn't link the accounts.

While technically your GS and GF accounts use the same login details, for me atleast they aren't properly tied together - they both display the same name, but if I login to GF and see a post by my GS account it is treated as if it was another user - I still can't edit it.

The new system made some odd choices - trying to mass group all games by genre, but over time we should return to something more normal with individual games, or atleast series getting their own dedicated forums.

I agree with the last post I mean you take away the forum, the FAQ's, the trophies (PS3) and Achievements (X-Box/PC) have already gone over to Fuse, seems like there is less and less to come to Gamespot for expecially considering you are now having to sign into two or three seperate sites for the content you only used to have to log into GS for.

Aye, I quite liked frequenting individual forums, it's a shame that we can't post there now. Ah well, there's always the unions.

While I agree it is a pain, it also helps alleviate the problems for those who got modded and didn't know why. Since GS's ToS has changed, but GF's hasn't, posting on a GF related board like you would on a GS board could get you modded still. So separating them completely will help in that aspect at least. Not that I ever really need to obscure swear words personally lol so for me it is more of a nuisance lol.

This is part of the separation of the forum systems of GameFAQs and GameSpot, and actually there are now new forums for all games on our side. Previously we were joined at the hip with the Game Boards: They were actually on GameFAQs, but we could post on them at this end.

Now that we've split, we've naturally lost everything that was on the old GameFAQs boards, but I assure you that individual game boards still exist for every game. It's just their blank at the moment until we fill them with new content.

Example: This is our Half-Life 2 forum.

Ah so essentially we just need to go to the individual game page again and go on said games board, and we can post there?

Must have had my head buried in the sand when it was announced. Totally missed it!
    Good news IMO.
Can't seem to find the forums I want though. Is it because they don't yet exist or I'm just a bit of a nob and can't search properly?

What forum do you want to find? They may simply be blank at this point but the links should be on the same place on each gamespace.

Since we are on the subject, are all series going to remain as, well, a series?

For example, there is a board for Tomb Raider (series as a whole). But will there ever be individual boards for the popular games, or only the new games?

I would prefer if it was just for the new games but it's not my decision .

But so long as the big series get their own boards (as a series), I am happy. Some examples are:

Metal Gear Solid, Splinter Cell, Resident Evil, Gears of War, Call of Duty, Battlefield, Halo, Medal of Honor, WWE series (that would probably be the best name for it, since there are different WWE games), Guitar Hero, Rock Band, Sonic The Hedgehog, Crash Bandicoot, Hitman, Rainbow Six, Tony Hawk, Skate, Mario (never played these, but it's still a big one), Doom, Duke Nukem, Grand Theft Auto, Driver, Tekken, Street Fighter, The Elder Scrolls... you get the idea . If you think this is a good idea, I will be happy to give you more ideas for series boards.

I said this a while ago, but I think it would be a good idea if we have a seperate board for the latest game in the series (such as Resident Evil 6, but all platforms combined) and it would remain there (along with for example, Operation Raccoon City, but that has already been released now, so it can just be discussed in the series board) until the next generation of platforms come along, and they get deleted. Basically they would get deleted and then if people want to discuss them, they can discuss them in the series board. Just an idea .

Every game should have its own board now (even tiny, unimportant/obscure games like Sliding-Block Puzzles for the BBC Micro )

Series boards should continue to exist for popular series (e.g. Call of Duty, etc.) as well as Genre boards like First-Person Shooters.

Basically if you want a board, it probably exists or will exist.

I like the gamespot way of 1 board for each game regardless of platform. It should make those boards that you frequent more active. Have a couple of friends on gamefaqs and have been trying to convince them to use the superior Gamespot boards Hopefully they will get more and more active.

^^ Yeah I like that they've put them all into one regardless of console.

But I've now noticed certain games Forums have been replaced with "Official Gam Channel" (check Max Payne 3's page) which doesn't even do half of what the Forums would have done, WTF Gamespot!?
