Neither of these are good horror games. I wouldn't even consider them good games at all. Shattered Memories is downright comical in a lot of ways. Then again the TC seems to consider Dead Rising a horror game, so...

It's better on PS2 since it doesn't use motion controls. It's still not a good game though.

You're an idiot. the game wasn't meant as pure horror. It was more intended to be unsettling, similar to silent Hill 2. The story is incredible and amazing, and the music alone is worth the price of admission.
Silent Hill SM isn;t very scary but it is very atmospheric and definitely worth playing if you want a great story.

I don't think they should be avoided at all. Depending on your game style and how do you like to enjoy these "scary" moments In that same vein you can actually enjoy games like Obscure 2 and even Bug Island. I know those are not top titles but I actually had a good time while they lasted
