"Opportunity should be equal, must be equal, but achievement must remain individual. R.A. Salvatore

In game Achievements, something that simultaneously holds a great amount of pride and bile in the gaming community. Some games hold true to insuring that an achievement earned is one that took effort to do, while other games give you achievements for simply pressing play. Are they a complete waste of time? Do gamers really care about the number of achievements unlocked? Or do they help to establish a sense of value to the time you've put into a game, and possibly add depth to your gaming experience?

Deadline to post a link to your Chalk Talk Submission isFRIDAY October 5th at 10:00am PT

A few additional things to remember about your Chalk Talk Submission:
    - Entries must be aminimum of 500 words.
    - Do not use altered text fonts, colors, and be aware of your formatting.
    - Select at least one image to act as your "Cover Shot".
    -Mark your blog as EDITORIAL

    I have made an entry.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All the ladies below (mostly drawn by a certain awesome but, for better or worse, not-so-well known fan artist) are actual game characters, though not (necessarily) THAT kind of games if you are thinking about those.

    I have made an entry.

At the moment there are no plans to replace AUB with Chalk Talk. AUB posters are those who belong to a certain "elite group" of bloggers, Chalk Talk is there to help find new talent to add to that pool.

Just curious, who makes the selection of who gets on the AUB?

it sounds a bit disconcerting. i didn't realize the AUB posters were "elite", the way the community post is discussing it, it almost sounded like anyone's editorial would be considered, not that you had to be deemed "elite", and this makes it sound like chalk talk is one way to gain entrance into this "elite" group, which also makes it look like chalk talk bloggers aren't quite up to par with the AUB people. perhaps it only sounded this way to me? i don't see the need to put one above the other, they have different functions. one has an assignment and one is just cool stuff picked, a sample of our community. on a slight side note, i don't recall seeing this week's chalk talk featured on the front page as the previous ones were, sad but oh well. maybe i just missed it, which is equally sad since if it was there it wasn't easy to spot.

I understand the concern but it helps to keep what enters the front page of the GameSpot manicured, if it went to anyone who marked their blog as editorial all kinds of havoc could happen and since sadlyit only takes a few to ruin it for the rest we have to have the the "screening process" of Chalk Talk. That's not to say that Chalk Talk posters are better or worse than AUB's, but Chalk Talk is like tryouts for the AUB emblem.

i didn't mean that i thought anyone marking their blog as "editorial" would show up on AUB, i said that it was stated in the post introducing the changes that blogs marked as "editorial" would be considered for AUB, no connection with chalk talk being a tryout or a consideration for AUB, although it makes sense that the two may at some times overlap; however, specifically saying that chalk talk is tryouts for AUB is absolutely ranking chalk talk lower than AUB. not sure how else that could be interpreted.
