    Hi.

So, I'm planning that I may buy a 3DS XL, you can get them for fairly standard prizes here.

But the games I want to purchase for it is really difficult to snif up in the UK, so I wante to ask about buying the US versions.

I have looked a bit around forums from different sites and I think I read somewhere that games for a normal DS shouldn't have region lock on a 3DS or 3DS XL, can anyone confirm this?

    Thank you!

Original DS games are not region locked, even though the 3DS itself is and its own games are. Thus, any region DS game will work on any 3DS. I play my import japanese DS games on my US 3DS all the time.

DSi enhanced games are usually region-locked, Pokemon BW and BW2 being the most popular example. Those games only work on the system of their respective region, and this applies on both DSi and its iterations, and 3DS and its iterations.

So, yes, if you are buying an original DS game from overseas, be sure to check whether the game is region-locked or not.

Now Playing: Persona 4 Golden l Fire Emblem 6 l Persona 3 Portable
Backlog: Fire Emblem 6 l Legend of Zelda OoT 3D l Dawn of War: Dark Crusade
Most Anticipated: Total War: Rome II l GTA V l Pokemon XY
    Season Finale on May 1

Don't mind him. He calls people names all the time.

Here's a list of some DSi-enhanced games: link. It's not complete, but everything besides the Pokemon games are mediocre.
