Hey guys i'm new to persona and I just got to the final boss.(normal ending, not true final boss) This stupid eyeball is driving me nuts. I played the whole game just being purely physical using no buffs. I am working on fusing a trumpeter for debilitate. My main question is how many turns do auto skills like Auto-Mataru last? It's a level 9 skill and people say its good but if it only lasts for 3 turns it probably won't help much... Any advice from a veteran would be appreciated.

Auto skills only last for 3 turns until they wear off, so they are not good at all at boss fights. Ameno-sagiri has two turns, so he'll dish out -dyne spells and God's Judgement, which cuts your HP in half. When he uses Quake, he'll always follow up with Fog of Confusion. At that point, you cannot hurt him while Fog of Confusion is out. He then buffs himself, so that's where Trumpeter/Debilitate really comes in handy because once he buffs himself and drops the fog, he'll use that eye laser, and you want to be blocking during that attack.

For the most part, just keep whacking him with Mind Charge + -dyne spells. If you have Chie or Kanji, get Power Chargin'. And heals.

That eye laser is killer - I don't know if it's a bug or just an extremely random event but I had him use the stupid laser twice in one turn, and if it weren't for the game's extremely forgiving Rise block, my entire party would have been wiped out (I think it does 400-500 damage even on a guarding character).

But yeah, if you're fusing a persona specifically for a boss, don't bother with the auto- skills if there's something more useful you could be putting there. Of course, it's good for general fights and you can always swap persona around during a boss battle so having it on Trumpeter isn't the end of the world.
