Cannot embed video into blogs, even when using HTML
Not only is this frustrating, but I think its looks bad when my GS blogs can't even embed GS videos.

What exactly are you trying to embed into your blogs and how are you doing it? [code][code][/code][/code] Please use that code and insert the bbcode or whatever you were trying to do in there.- Please wait. Quick reply will be available shortly.

For all videos I have tried both copying code from the hosts's site (both GS and Youtube), observed that didn't work, then used the HTML button to try the same. In this second attempt, the video will appear correct in the preview and then when I hit Enter/Save/Publish/Whatever, the area is blank (as you can see it presently).

That seems like it should be a no-brainer. Am I missing something here too?

- Jan 17, 2013 10:57 am GMTI've never seen an official comment on this, but there are some non-obvious consequences to allowing users to inline some kinds of content that make it more of a can of worms than it might seem. You might want to compose a nice post with a single video in it, and that would be all fine and good, but the next user who comes along might decide to see what happens with a post that contains seven thousand videos. Ouch go the servers. Basically, user-submitted content always has to be filtered. I suspect that a decision on how to allow users to inline videos has not been forthcoming because of non-obvious complexities that can result. In the mean time, you should be able to link almost any video you want (within the TOU, of course), and you can probably even figure out how to wrap that around a nice image that represents it somehow, if that approach is appealing. (I do wish they would give us back the target="_blank" attribute for things like that though.) Maybe at some point they'll figure out how to thread the needle and allow user content to inline some additional media, but I haven't heard anything about that just yet either. March 12, 2013: Some very surprising changes are currently in effect. See the Community announcement. My guess is that this will probably be dialed back eventually, but for now this seems like a perfect place to experiment.
