Someone answer this time please...
Why is bumping an old thread to the top not ok? What if we were just responding to an old post and responding to it? I don't understand since I got a warning about it. And if I were to do it on purpose in the future, how would I know about this rule? I mean, comon, no one reads the rules to these threads...

In some instances, bumping a thread can be acceptable. For example, if it's a hype thread designed to hold information and keep users updated about a certain game, a bump is acceptable. Most of the time, however, it's best to let old threads be old, especially when they're approximately a month old.
It's also not a good idea to bump a thread with a post that has nothing to do with the thread or is generally off-topic, as seen in your post.
