Don't really have a price cutoff but I'll need to see something to interest me enough to make the purchase either in console features or upcoming games.

I totally agree about every game you mentioned. But there's also about a dozen other series of games that are awesome IMO:
Red Dead, Dead Space, Uncharted, God of War, Portal, Elder Scrolls, Far Cry, Fallout, Dark Souls, Wolfenstein/Singularity (same game basically), Tomb Raider and more.

Don't be negative man. I've been around since Pong in the 70's. I'm 40 years old and have been playing video games my whole life. We are truly in the golden age right now. There are so many great series out there right now. I really do feel sad about Resident Evil though, because that was my favorite series until RE6... I thought that game was just awful.

On a positive note though, in the past few months we've had Ni no Kuni and Far Cry 3, which I feel were among the best games of this gen.

Well, I have been gaming since 1988.

Sure, there are a few exceptions, like Demon's Souls and Dark Souls which are both the two best video games in the last 8+ years.

Tomb Raider is being destroyed by this new reboot which looks absolutely nothing like TR or Lara Croft.

If you want a great new Resident Evil, then do yourself a favor and buy Revelations, but used of course, so you don't support Crapscum.

Ninokuni does look fantastic. I can't afford it right now tho. It's too bad it doesn't have traditional turn based combat though, I really miss FF7-FF10, Xenogears, etc. style combat.

    Red Dead - meh

Uncharted - linear, set piecey, casual, it is trying to be a movie but it is a game

Dead Space is ruined with 3

God of War is linear, super easy puzzles designed for kindergartners, horrible story, Kratos is most douchey character in VG history and no character development and only angry personality. also, he kills everyone regardless of innocent or not

Most of all though, I miss turn based JRPGs on home consoles. I seriously freaking miss Final Fantasy. I would have never guessed that the series would be ruined and that Final Fantasy would be rolling in its grave.

I spent 700$ on lunch day for my 60GB PS3 model, however that was when I wasn't a father and husband. This time around, money allocation takes priority, anything past 349-399$ for me is going to be too much.

I picked up Wii U last week for 170$ Deluxe edition after trading in my Wii and few excellent games with it. I'm expecting to do the same with my PS3 when PS4 is announced.

If the price tag is over 400$ however, I'm going to have to pass on it until it's more affordable.

considering my budget id go as high as probably 400 but thats only if they showed something impressive enough that made me want to get it at launch. most likely though ill just wait 2 to 3 years, maybe even a little more before i actually perchase one, to let them iron out all the problems theyll have at first.

    Currently playing:

PS3: Tales of Graces f, LittleBIGPlanet

    X360: None

    PSVita: None

    3DS: Theatrythm Final Fantasy

$400 at laucnh. Also really cheap gamers on here. No wonder Sony is/was having problems pushing systems compared to M$ and Nintendo when core fans won't spend more than $300...

    this.

I'll wait for it to be at the most at $400 and it better be a good model too. Not $400 for an arcade type (12gb) model.

(September 7, 2012) Im calling it NOW! GS will flop 'The Last of Us'

The PS4 is a day one purchase for me, regardless of price.

With a PlayStation console, I know I'll be getting my money's worth, so I have no problem paying whatever the asking price is.

    --------------------Now Playing-----------------------
    PC:
    PS3: Grand Theft Auto IV
WiiU: New Super Mario Bros U
    360:
    Vita:
3DS: Fire Emblem Awakening, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon
    iPad: The Walking Dead
    ------------------------------------------------------------
    Rig: i5-2500K, GTX 570 SC, Gigabyte p67 UD4, 8gb DDR3, Win 7 64 bit, NZXT Black Phantom
    51" Samsung 3D Plasma 2011 model

Don't really have a price threshold. If there are enough games for it at launch that interest me I'll pick it up regardless of price. This goes for both the next PlayStation and the next Xbox. $400 or less is the sweet spot but if it does end up costing more, as long as the games are good enough for it I'll still get one. I've had the same thinking for all next gen consoles. I waited on the 3DS and Vita until there were more games and I'm still waiting on more games for the Wii U.

    Now Watching: Steins;Gate (7/24)

    Now Playing

    PS3: Nothing

    360: Nothing

Vita: Final Fantasy IX, Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus

    3DS: Nothing

    PC: The Witcher

You guys in the US have nothing to complain about. When the ps3 launched in Australia back in 2007, the 60gb model went for $999.

Given the general price drop in gaming hardware and software over the last few years (in AUS), I suspect the ps4 will launch here at around the $600 mark, which is probably the highest I would be willing to pay.

I will most likely do like I did with the PS3 , wait until it had been out for awhile and the price dropped. Even then I waited until a game came out that I just had to have GOW3, before buying it.

It is definitely, I had no issues using any of the Wii peripherals or Wii games on Wii U. Nintendo also confirmed on their website, Wii U will support lots of older generation games as well.

Totally depends on the games.  If I'm excited about the new stuff coming out, obviously I'll spend more and spend it sooner.  If it's like 2012 and the gaming industry isn't putting out anything but sequels and shooters and sequels turned into shooters, I'll be working my way through my PS3 backlog for a long time to come.
