I walked to 7 stores during this blizzard, each one claiming that they have copies, and coming out empty-handed because they either ran out or only had downloadable codes. It was the last store that finally told me that they'll have more copies by the end of the month.

Is it worth the download? I feel like cancelling my pre-order and downloading it, but I would much rather have the physical copy knowing that it's not tied to my 3DS and I won't loose it if anything happens to my handheld.

I hope Nintendo is aware of these delays.

^^^^^ Bro, just get the physical copy.

If anyone lives in the SF Bay Area, specifically around Fremont I have an extra copy I don't need.

    PSN is bluestatus

I play a lot of Gran Turismo. Shoot me a friend request if you're down. Just say you're from Gamespot.

With Nintendo I thought that you are able to get your downloads back as long as they are registered on Club Nintendo, which should happen automatically if you signed up for it and register your 3DS/Wii/WiiU. If it works for VC games I don't see why it wouldn't for anything else. If there really isn't a way to get it back, then damn, I really feel bad for the people that try to defend the way Nintendo does things.

Got my copy of the game a couple days ago along with a copy of Ni No Kuni. Never played a Fire Emblem title until now but I've gotta say that this is a fantastic time, so much fun.

So.....who here doesn't care about throwing away $40 and would like to gift me a download copy of Fire Emblem?..
....oh wait, it can't be gifted like Wii's VC games....

Guess I'll pick it up whenever I get the funds for it...

I think I made the right decision for me. Buying retail games from the eShop is a really unappealing prospect, but I obviously got a lot of playtime with it over my three day weekend as planned. I probably would have spent a lot of that time sulking over my lack of Fire Emblem anyways.

Since you've held out this long already, I would try to hold out for a physical copy... More and more people seem to be getting their hands on them now. Still, this whole situation sucks. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. Either way, it will have been worth the wait, I promise! I haven't finished it yet, but I'm thinking this is my favorite in the series.

    Thanks for the replies.

I've decided to play past FE games and familiarize myself with the important characters (Naga?) while I wait for my copy to arrive. The wait is killing me though.

I wonder what caused this massive delay...

It seems like this is sold out everywhere in my area. I wasn't planning on getting it right away but after hearing all the positive reviews from critics and people here, I thought I would check it out. Seems like i'm too late though. I've actually been streetpassing a lot of people lately who are playing it right now; lucky them!

I've decided to try out Sacred Stones though. Downloaded it as part of the ambassador program and never touched it. I must say it's surprisingly fun; I don't usually play grid based RPGs but i'm really liking it so far. How does Awakening compare to Sacred Stones? If it's much better, i'm gonna be in for a real treat once it's available again.

I'd say it's better, I really like way you can fight in pairs in awakening, that they finally made building supports useful, and after Sacred Stones they brought back skills. I'd say 4, 5, 9, and Awakening (don't know if I'd count it as 11 or 13 with the last two being remakes) are my favorites.

They should call it Fire Emblem: Amazing, because that's what this game is.

However, I'm on chapter 11 and worried my party is a bit over powered...

EDIT: Chapter 10 was just beautiful.

You have to try levelling other people up.  I only have a few people that have not really been touched.

Chapter 9 totally knocked my socks off.

I bought Sacred Stones on launch day way back in the day. It was my all time favorite GBA game, and I was so sure it would be my favorite Fire Emblem game ever.

Then I played FE: Awakening. The story is compelling and the characters are vivid. The support conversations are amusing, and when you get that S rank, they're downright charming. And now you're not limited to just a few per character, either- you can explore the bonds between all the characters a deeply as you care to. It looks like there will likely be a creature campaign at the end of the game, too, so the story doesn't need to end with the final boss.

The new mechanics like the dual attack/defend, being able to change classes- even to the point of changing a character's base class, and other additions make this hands-down the best TBS game I've ever played.

I always tried to balance my party out, but not to the point where you have 6 or 7 jacked up characters.

Gah. Chapter 18 was a cake-walk (the one in the volcano)
I've already been delaying some class promotions and have been trying to incorporate some of the lower level characters but my party is just too OP.
Maybe it's all the pairing up. I love this mechanic, but it does feel like cheating at times.
I'll definitely need to replay this on hard mode at some point.
