I'm going the Mercenary --> Hero route.

Promoting Donnel to a level 1 base class means he'll level up way more quickly. Waiting for him to max out as a villager might not be very efficient.

It turns out, he maxed out at level 30. Considering he had 60 hp when he got there, I wanted to turn him into a knight>general, but the only classes he was able to promote to were sword classes- hero, bow knight, a few others. So all his skill in lances went right down the tube. I was considering throwing another second seal on him, but when I checked into it, there was still no lance class available, apart from sending him back to being a villager.

As a hero, though, he gets the job done. He's got the highest hp of all my units.

I actually was hoping to make him a general as well. In addition to his lance skill carrying over, his high speed and resistance would balance out the weaknesses associated with the class. I was able to achieve this in Sacred Stones and the results were incredible.

Good ol' Amelia. What a woman! Ewan was completely unstoppable when you raised him up to a druid. He was the only reason I beat the final boss.

What route did you take Donnel down?

Ah, yes. You're better with names then me!
Amelia ended up being my most powerful character, of any FE game I've played. She is exactly who I had in mind.
    Ewan was great, too.

Donnel is currently a level 5 mercenary with stats in the 20s and 30s. I'll probably make him a hero. This is just my preferred class and it seems to suit him well.

Sacred Stones was my favorite GBA, FE, and TBS game of all time. I'd better know their names! I'm waiting on pins and needles for the SS team in the bonus box to update with Joshua as a leader so I can recruit him.

How did you get starter classes to appear for Donnel? I couldn't use a Master Seal on him, and the 2nd Seal only brought up advanced classes.

    Joshua? You're bringing back memories!

I'm guessing it's related to what level he was when you first tried to use the seal. I know that you can use a 2nd seal with him starting at 10, and at this point it will promote him to a starter class. I promoted him at 17 and, again, the options were all starter classes.

Crap. I waited until he was maxed out and only got the advanced classes. I may have shot myself in the foot there... but it is what it is, and he looks hilarious wearing his badass Hero armor and a soup pot helm! I just wish that they had bothered to make at least a couple of special character models for the einherjar heroes. *envisions a 3D Joshua with that b!tchin' little hat*. So awesome...

Back on topic: I just recruited Noire. !!!I CAN'T WAIT TO MARRY OFF THE AVATAR OF RETRIBUTION!!!

Something else I'm noticing- has anyone noticed that besides the skills children take from their parents, the child's hair color seems to come from the 'opposite' parent?

For example- in the roster, Owain is referred to as "Lissa's son," but his hair is green, like my avatar's. Conversely, Morgan's hair is blonde like Lissa's. I've noticed this with several of the children. It changes nothing, of course, but I thought it was a nice touch all the same.

Sweet! I knew they couldn't have put all that work into the cutscenes and support conversations just to make them a one-off affair.

Of the children I've turned up so far, the only male I can think of is Owain(I'm in the middle of a battle so I can't turn up my complete roster at the moment). But I've got a ton of girls- Cynthia, Noire, Kjelle, Morgan, Severa and so on. Can anyone tell me some parents that turn up sons? I need to marry off some of these girls!

Gah... encountered a team over street pass that's just too strong. Nobody's supposed to be more hardcore than me!

How does training units in multiple classes work? I demoted my Lv20 Paladin Stahl into a myrmidon and he has most of his stats maxed at level one. I'm guessing level ups carry over? He doesn't get a lot of experience though... does anyone have some grinding tips?

Later areas in the game spawn harder risen. If your levelling someone around level 10, Chapter 4 is a good grinding spot, where as someone higher would get much better returns in a later area. And if they can handle it, send them in alone, with maybe one other unit for a support role. Abuse Auto battle if your sure nothing can touch them.

How does training units in multiple classes work? I demoted my Lv20 Paladin Stahl into a myrmidon and he has most of his stats maxed at level one. I'm guessing level ups carry over? He doesn't get a lot of experience though... does anyone have some grinding tips?

Seems like the problem there would be with the archetype's limits- a level 1 myrmidon is actually a very fragile unit; he relies on speed for dodging and skill for 1HKs. Now, if you had taken, say, Lon'qu, raised him to a swordmaster and then classed him to a cavalier, his strength, speed and skill would probably be maxed, but his defense, resistance and luck would skyrocket. As a Paladin(my preferred mounted adv class), he would likely be unstoppable. As a level 20 general, he would be nigh immortal- assuming his speed wasn't utterly crippled(which it likely would be).

El ZoRRo vs Omega Prime! Witness the epic battle yourself! Who was right? Lord only knows(well, Him and anyone who finished the ninth grade...)

My gaming blog and a different kind of videogame review.

Gah... encountered a team over street pass that's just too strong. Nobody's supposed to be more hardcore than me!

For base classes level ten, I prefer Ylisstol(ch6). Though I don't actually grind for levels, instead I grind out relationships and items.

    Hadn't considered using AB though.
