Fire Emblem: Awakening, Reclassing advice?

    I need some advice on reclassing in Fire Emblem Awakening.  

    Mainly, the character Gerome, I'm wondering if it would be more beneficial to make him a War Monk(heal/axe) or a Hero(sword/bow). 

    And, if there are any other beneficial or recommended class changes, I'd be glad to hear opinions.

     

     

    ALSO, does anyone know if armor/portrait appearance changes when you do a class change? Because I like Gerome's default look, and wouldnt wanna drastically alter it. THanks.
