I kinda like the idea. I hated playing DKCR with the sideways Wii mote. So the 3DS will provide better control. 3D should be nice in short bursts.

    Let's hope the graphics aren't butchered,either.

I think they will a bit.
Still havent watched the video on the eshop tho.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

The graphics look blurrier and lower res but mostly identical. The 3D looks great.

I will accept the hit in graphics that will result from this 3DS port because it means I can play it with proper controls (without hacking my Wii, anyway).

Now Playing: House of the Dead: Overkill, Plants vs Zombies, Guild Wars 2, Forza Horizon

There are people who own a Wii who haven't played it, and there are people who don't even own a Wii.  Your personal library does not equal everyone elses... a concept very hard to get through to most people. Ports and remakes can be great for gamers as it allows us to revisit older games and allow new generations to play past favourites (such as the Oracle games coming to eShop). I do have to say remakes and ports of recent games aren't always the best option, but they are allowing for a larger audience.

In the past they've re-done the music for DKC portables. It would sure be nice if they could get original composer David Wise to give the game a proper soundtrack.
    Wishful thinking? Totally.

The game felt like it was made for the 3DS.

I wasn't at all surprised on this announcement.

Here's a pretty good comparison, what do you think?

Edti: Textures have taken an obvious hit but other than that it looks pretty identical.

I borrowed the game from a friend originally. Played it some but I really hated the motion controls with it. This may be a purchase for me now.

It's good that the 3DS is getting a first Donkey Kong retail game, it's just a shame that it's not a brand new game. But I might just get it, because I never got around in getting the original.
