Forza Horizon User Review
- Difficulty:
- Just Right
- Time Spent:
- 20 to 40 Hours
- The Bottom Line:
- "Surprisingly good"
Open world racing games have been tried before, such as Test Drive Unlimited and it's sequel, but all of them have been terrible at their best point. Horizon solves a lot of those issues.
The game does have it's fair share of flaws, too short, limited car selection, limited upgrades and the same problem that all Forza games have, which is over predictable and overpriced DLC.
The main races can be finished in few solid hours of play, but there are things they added to make you want to play longer. They have Discount signs around the map that you can try to find in order to get discounts in the upgrade shop, instead of car levels like in past Forza games.
There are also Barn Finds which are unlocked at various points in the game. They are typically expensive, fast cars that are usually a one of in the game, the mechanic will fix them up for you free of charge and add them to your garage.
There is a very limited car selection , roughly half of what you get in Forza 4. It's a bit of a let down, but the new race types have finally given a point to them including trucks and SUVs. They have added off-road races and a Rally pack which gives you more cars and races.
The game was much better then I expected it to be, I would not pay the $60 retail for it, but it is a good $30 game.

Forza Horizon is an adrenaline-pumping, arcade, racer that simply shouldn't be avoided.
